This will be more destructive than the “camera makes sure you’re actually watching an ad” thing that Microsoft patented years ago and people still won’t let go, but I guarantee 99% of the outcry against this will be against muh AI instead of Sony themselves. Because, say it with me everyone… it’s okay when Sony does it.

Sony is falling again for the sunk cost fallacy that allowed Concord to reach the market. I will not be dissuaded in my belief that Intergalactic is going to be Naughty Dog's ruin.

Correction, they more or less finished the game and Sega scrapped it at the last minute, even tho they had a working product on their hands. This is how bad the game was, Sega aborted the stillborn because just it's mere existence was bad PR.
At least Concord died with some "dignity", ie it was up for a little while and then unceremoniously died when nobody was interested in playing it, rather than being strangled in the womb(like it should have been).

Hyenas was cancelled before release September of 2023, Concord was cancelled less than 2 weeks after release September of 2024. It is safe to say that if Hyenas had released it would have done so very close to Concord. According to sources it was the most expensive games ever in development by Sega at $100 Million. (Sega realized they'll lose even more if it made it to launch, it was that bad.)

I think people are looking at the peanuts thing too much through the lens of SIE/playstation, which, fair enough, but this is sony pictures. Different segments of sony are not in unison to a retarded degree to the point where aniplex has commissioned more switch exclusives than even the cope metric of playstation console "exclusive". Most likely, they just wanted a bit of stable, passive income that the merch sales of a largely evergreen ip like this provides to counteract how volatile some of their other ventures are, namely, superhero movies.
