I heard people say God of War: Laufey is giving them Forspoken vibes and having seen it, sure. All that was missing was "I just moved shit! With my freaking mindcube!" A talking gelatinous Cube named Frank is some of the most awful and Millennial-coded crap, it being voiced by Jack Quaid is just the annoying and rancid cherry atop what looks like a total crap sundae.
Imo, Stuntman, Ace Combat and one or two of the other 3rd parties look kinda neat, but boy the Sony 1st party stuff is just the same crap that they had the past 10+ years.

Final Fantasy has been run into the ground, and considering 16 is fairly recent by Game Release standards and the amount of time they usually have between titles, it's expected.
Dragon Quest 12 I believe they announced they had restarted development on after someone in charge realized changing the formula would be retarded, so God only knows when we'll hear more about that.
Outside Tomb Raider and the Lawyer Nightmare that is Kingdom Hearts, most of their IP I believe are either mothballed, have been handed off, or flat out been sold off. They might not actually have anything worth revealing.
Sony ain't banking early exclusivity like they did with FFXIV, so most likely they are going to go to Geoff for their bigger reveal, since Geoff-fest has the larger crowd.
Also Square seems like to be downscaling, and rumor is that they are going back to their JRPGs, and they usually reveal those on the Nintendo directs, as their recent Dragons quests remakes were also revealed on directs.
I am just skipping through the State of Play and was this entire thing AI generated ? Highlight is at 56:05 when the God of War lady shakes her hand say " Oh come on !" like her gun just malfunctioned. Couldn't give a shit of GoW, but holy shit is this garbage nauseating. Shaky cam, marvel writing, enemies that look like someone asked GROK for some badass designs.
The same guy that took an all expenses paid trip to CDPR and didn't disclose it, then shilled the game (CP2077) so hard when he knew about the major problems the game had before launch and how much the devs lied about the final product. Then proceeded to say it was the "Best RPG of a generation" in his review.
It seemed like GOW Ragnarok was received mostly well by the fans but I saw people shitting on the cartoon chipmunk and that it just was a far goofier game. I'm honestly impressed by the nerve of Sony Santa Monica to double down and make a game about an Uncanny Valley redhead and a talking gelatinous cube. I think I'd only really want to play Wolverine and the new Stuntman.
Sony has engineered their first-party developers to all shit out clones of TLOU. That's all they're capable of making.
These monstrosities cost as much as an MCU movie to develop, and necessitate an obscene amount of copies sold to break even.
Of note is that we know that Spider-Man 2 barely broke even, and the rest is not faring all that much better. Ghost of Yotei was a colossal flop and TLOU2 effectively killed the franchise.
I don't think the issue is that the gameplay itself is dated, but the fact Sony only really makes only one kind of game, just like how Ubisoft homogenized all their disparate franchises to be AssCreed clones with a different coat of paint.
I say this because the devs of Pragmata were very proud when people said their game feels like something out of the PS3 era. Capcom in general has been recycling the RE formula and mechanics, tweaking them a bit here and there, for close to a decade now, and FROM are the undisputed kings of iterative design, yet both have seen massive success with their recent titles.
The loss of nice visual design in these modern AAA games is really noticeable. Said in another thread (I think) that hero shooters are not my cup of tea, but the one I did pick up was Overwatch 1 when it came out because the designs and visuals were very striking vs something like Concorde where they looked terrible.
I look at a lot of these, including the Laufey game, and she looks very generic. I’m not even talking about the uncanny valley or uglification of female characters, just the visual design. What makes her stand out vs that character from Horizon Zero Dawn series? Or any other recent white female hero character? Same thing with a lot of these designs.
The loss of striking designs or personality is really noticeable since even 15+ years ago on PS3. If I say “inFamous” main character - might not remember the name, but you probably remember “bald white guy in striking yellow attire with electric powers”. Or Altair/Ezio - probably very quickly know what they look like.
What is striking or identifying about most of these new characters? If it looks generic and is meant to be one of those story driven games, why am I picking it up?
Sony exclusives perform worse and worse every generation but you really sure own me, the dude who traded GOW and HZD for grand turismo because i was bored out of my mind with both. I tought Ragnarok wasnt liked? Sony is going the way of Ubisoft and are finding out that yes, people can just not buy your fucking game its actually pretty easy
