Sony doesn't report units shipped
Yeah, they literally do. Don't even have anything else to say here, this is just blatantly untrue.
It is hilarious how many people think that PlayStation isn't making money, when they are having their most profitable generation so far
*If we don't count a single dollar spent on buying bungie, the studio that made concord, etc as being playstation expenses
**Also if we don't include a lot of marketing budgets as playstation expenses
***Also also if we count 100% of every psn transaction as sony revenue, even though sony only actually takes 30%
****Also also also includes ps4, steam, switch, etc
I'd have to double check the exact date, but sony quite literally lists the "Ps5 generation" as starting at the beginning of 2020, I can't remember if they're going by calendar year or fiscal year, so either January or April, despite the ps5 not even releasing until November. On top of that, the ps5 only surpassed the ps4 in revenue share
last quarter. For this entire time, ps4 kiddies buying fortnite bucks has drastically outnumbered the amount of money ps5 brought in.
They were still selling PS2 in Africa, India and SE Asia until around 2018
According to sony themselves, they did
not update the number after several more years of sales. What they said was that they had "miscounted" and it was always supposed to be 160 million when they "updated" it to 155 million in 2012 (itself an absurd claim that asks you to believe sony went from barely selling a million ps2s a year up to 5 million in a single year out of nowhere, now 10 million), and by sheer "coincidence", they waited until the switch was getting close to 155 million to "correct" it. If you want proof, here's sony's own official numbers:
I'll wait for you to tell me whether ps2 says "As of March 31, 2012" or "As of March 31, 2018/2019/etc"
