That headline sounds like they're trying to instruct people to be "shocked" about "yet another" controversial decision, almost as if they're doing this shit on purpose and the press is playing right along to drum up viewership for this slop.

Going off the headline, I don't get that at all. Recasts are almost universally panned. The only one that I can remember that wasn't was Spartacus in Spartacus, and that was because the guy got blood cancer and died.
But anyway, recasting the kid playing Atreus was the better of the two options. He looks like he just got out of diapers and is supposed to be playing somebody who's 12 or 13, there's no way in a year or two he's going to look 16.
It's cursed. Kratos's actor, who IIRC is the guy who voiced Thor in the games, tore his bicep really bad before this so they have to recast him and reshoot all of season one with him in it. It was stupid to have different cast for a three year timeskip anyway when they should have cast a 14ish year old instead of an 11 year old since he'd age between seasons and Atreus never looked that babyfaced. I'd just recast both and start from scratch if they're gonna reshoot so much anyway, but it's a disaster that's gonna go the same way as the Halo and Lara Croft adapts.
Hollywood "contracts" are as bulletproof as wet toilet paper. The only thing keeping any of those idiots on that show is money, and the moment the bullshit rises to a level of intolerable that the money can't mitigate, you'll see more people walking.

My assumption, since Amazon paid for 5 seasons outright, is that the contracts are pretty ironclad, they wouldn't have wanted actors walking away mid-production and being forced to replace them for their one billion dollar trainwreck.
The actors can probably still walk away, but would likely face some fines, or more likely, get blacklisted from future Amazon products, so all they can do now is grit their teeth and take it without lube, praying they have a career left after the show is over.
I think they're pretty safe on that count because I couldn't name a single actor on that show unless it's the one with Doctor Who. Never heard of any of the God of War cast either.
I think the only names I know from these projects are Walton Goggins in Fallout and Pedro Pascal in Last of Us (but not watched either of them).

It'll be close to 3 years between filming wrapping on season 1 and filming wrapping on season 2 anyways with the pace that those 8 episode a season "prestige" streaming content shows go, so it's pure cope. Kids sucked ass and are being recast for it.

Amazon is not the Hollywood production powerhouse it wishes it was. Being blacklisted by what amounts to an outsider production company isn't going to hurt anyone's career more than staying in for 5 seasons of that dogshit will.

If you read the full list there are no first-party Sony games on it, so it's actually third-party publishers being generous, while Sony are busy trying to sell you a completely pointless remake of The Last of Us for the second time.
