South Park Studios (Gamedev) Griefing Thread

I don't know who looked at the situation, said, "Yeah, we've had two really well received games doing single player cinematic RPGs that almost perfectly mimicked the art style of the show. You know what we should do for our third game? An ugly weird third person action-thing that doesn't look like the show at all. That's what people really want!"

I think they played the N64 game too much.

It would've been better if they "remade" the N64 game WITH the improved 3D graphics. I don't know what THQ or whoever was thinking with this sudden change in art and gameplay direction.

A hack and slash action adventure game would've fared better for SP.

New South Park game is some 3D co op...dungeon crawler? That's what it kinda looks like anyways. (like a Gauntlet game, but I'm not exactly sure what you'd call that)

It doesn't look good, but not really thread worthy. It could have been kept in the South Park thread in multimedia.

Only discussion I have to add is that it's funny that Matt and Trey claimed they were only going to approve good looking South Park games cause they hated the N64 game, Love Shack and the kart racer I think. They must really be hurting for cash after the Casa Bonita purchase to greenlight this.

Thematically the first one was western fantasy, but gameplay wise it was more a JRPG already.

I would say it should have been something more sci-fi. Maybe traditional sci-fi, maybe something more like cyberpunk or post apocalyptic, but something sci-fi ish.

Instead we get... Whatever the hell we're getting.

As if South Park as a show haven't gotten worse, even its game studio isn't any better with its new game
 
I do like the idea of paying tribute to that N64 style game they made way back when. I remember having fun with it with friends over a weekend.

What they really need to do is finish that Cartman GTA/Bully style game. The template is there and they have enough money to bring Casa Bonita back. Getting Rockstar interested in the Cartman romping through South Park idea should be easy and easily executed. Re visit old episode ideas, cupid cartman playing a role in the plot etc. 'Next Gen' graphics wouldn't matter so it could release Switch/PC/PS4,5 with no problem.
