Am I the only one who doesn't mind Bryce? He's FUCKING STUPID but he's got a good attitude. Captain's burdened with leadership so he has to be serious, Chestnut's a wimp and a Medicae, and Hatemonger...Well, he's Hatemonger. You need someone with a be-positive attitude to counteract the fairly serious tone of the party.

Supposedly (as per one of the Q&As) the episode after the christmas special is supposed to be a Bryce episode that will help make him more likable. Tall order, but we'll see.
bryce is a shitlord, how can you hate one of our own

I don't think they'll give him a reason to why he's an asshole, they said they wanted Bryce to be the "Eric Cartman" of Space King.
But they're not achieving it tho, everyone seems to hate Bryce while Cartman is South Park's most loved and iconic character.
If anything Hatemonger is the Eric Cartman

I think I just don't like Bryce because he reminds me of faggots I've known in real life

It does feel like that, but if you think about it they are the exact oppossite.
Hatemonger is a zealot and wants everyone to follow the rules, while Cartman is a shitty kid who can't stop breaking rules and creating problems for everyone.
The only thing they have in common is their racism.

Bryce is really insecure, which is a character trait that I don't think anyone really likes unless it's used in a sympathetic way.

But it's not. Bryce is just a little shit.

I think Bryce is a fine character and him being annoying to the main cast or an asshole is fine. There is nothing wrong with having that kind of character as long as said character doesn't crossover into also annoying the audience.
Without Bryce being himself episode 3 wouldn't exist as it does.

I don't really mind Bryce but he comes off kind of like the scrap-bin of personality traits, how he behaves in the first episode compared to the third episode is a bit of a whiplash, like they really heightened his subtler trait of desperate desire for acceptance via the group into his driving character flaw without really counterbalancing any positive traits they just added envy ontop of his scale of unlikeable flaws while retracting his redeemable input of being the tinkerer/unorthodox-solutions guy where he's now just a catalyst tool for revving up an episode's plot.
He's an asshole, he's incompetent, he's a desperate suck-up, if you took away him being constantly a little dickhead(too late) towards chestnut and others around him he would be seen as a lovable idiot, if you took away his incompetence(too late) he would have a satisfying feel for the flow and episode because despite being an insecure little asshole suck-pump he would be seen as always trying to pull through for the group and keeping their interests at heart rather than rodently trying to defend and justify his place in said group, if you took away his sycophancy(too late) for the captain you would have an incompetent asshole who desperately wants acceptance but lashes out at every one because of his insecurities and is stuck in a catch 22 of wanting to be liked but being afraid of it being taken away so keeps every one at a distance which writing wise can make for a very interesting and somewhat sympathetic character. Realistically, their either probably going to retcon some of his shitty attributes over time to make him more digestible for the audience or their going to double down(Tom would probably do this lol). Now, how they will double-down is what's interesting to me, opinion wise there's a good way of doubling down and a bad way of doubling down, the bad way is just re-iterating his most grating flaws over and over or making most of the bad things happen in a plot constantly be his doing, the good way would find an associative negative trait for him that cycles back his character to being funny again which will outweight his pile-up of unlikability, honestly, I feel like the best direction would just to turn him into Randall from Recess in making him a turbo-snitch something so ridiculous that it coalesces with his other negative traits to being really funny in its absurdity.

Bryce is cartman with none of the competence or charm that makes cartman lovable.
