Imagine creating an Orwellian anti-thoughtcrime visual novel and the only thing it achieves is handing a qt alt chick mascot to the chud right. You'd think they'd make the British nationalist an ugly skinhead or something.

They needed a reason for why young men would be shifting to the right, pussy was the best they could come up with.

I think this is just projection, because the existence of liberal men can only be explained by simping for pussy. They assume that's everyone's motivation. They cannot comprehend the joy and fulfillment of loyalty to Space King. They were tested and found wanting.

Fuck them. They could have had amazing momentum by just remaining neutral, not even having to be the chudgame. They picked their lane, sucked the tranny cock ad turns out were also a bunch of fuck ups anyway. I'll be happy not hearing about this shit ever again being pushed by randos.
I stopped paying attention to Trench Crusade. How did they fuck up?

Typical case of a Kickstarter project failing to deliver on promises. They aren't delivering minis to backers. The minis that do ship are often broken or poorly made. The rule book shipped and then immediately had an update. They swore they were going to support the 3D printing community first, and then went back on that promise, now only offering plastic minis. That's not even mentioning their crusade against "fascists" out of their community. The game goes from grim dark to grimderp because they are afraid of allowing Catholics to be the good guys in a game of heaven vs hell.

If they wanted evil vs evil and keep it abrahamic, they could have just done a setting with demons warring in hell. DND did it ages ago.

It's ironic that they sold themselves as not GW and ended up doubling down on everything wrong with it.

Justifying the nickname Tranch Crusade

how dare you dislike any line delivered by zach hadel i am autistically horrified
Hearing Zach in the Kingsmas episode was just a little jarring since he almost always voices sardonic characters, but this time Rudolph was completely sincere in his character and lines. I also only just realized they chose Zach to voice the character with a fucked up nose condition.
Forgive me for this heresy-adjacent thought, but Hatemonger is the one in the squad closest to being reasonable. He is the Vegeta with glasses meme of Hate.
Somebody please commission this.

You probably got a Cliff's notes version already, but I can shine some light on this, Retep.

The Kickstarter they had was effectively built on the art and concept, and it cruised to mild success on that alone. However, not long afterwards, the devs decided to go all-in on being openly political and effectively banned any politics in their community discord that wasn't expressly hard-left and banning multiple people prominent in the WH fandom they politically disagreed with. None of this is too surprising, but where it would hit the ground running is in what would follow.

Going forward, the devs basically decided that they didn't have a coherent canon of events and kept contradicting their own setting. This completely drove off anyone who cared about the setting's lore, and the crunch was little better, being poorly balanced and receiving a massive rulebook update after release. The lore contradicts itself in so many ways and so consistently that it treads into the territory of "shit I'm surprised @Adamska has not reviewed yet."

The devs initially supported 3D printing and custom modeling, proudly declaring that they would never be like GW, and that they would honor models from other devs, continue to release 3D printing blueprints, and allow old models to remain valid through updates. They then abruptly pivoted, declare that only their official minis would be allowed going forward, would never release 3D prints again, and effectively went full GW.

Not done with this, their printed models were hilariously bad with multiple design flaws that resulted in resin cavities - a model could look perfectly fine, only to break open later and leak toxic flux everywhere. The devs were alerted to this by everyone from their own backers (who complained about the models breaking open on their own) to professionals in the industry who were repeatedly pointing out how the problems were happening and gave them a path to fix them for free, only to be completely ignored at every turn.

GW literally won against TC by doing nothing.

In fairness, they also used reheated and retooled Mordheim mechanics since they got their hands on one of the guys who made that ruleset, and they tried really hard to appeal to that spirit right when it was getting looked back at fondly in the space. It got lucky in that regard by being in the right place in the right time. It's also making people who want something besides GW and who can't be fucked to learn Bolt Action get something similar to it.

In these morons' defense; it wasn't the Devs who went all in initially; it was the stupid media relations group they were buddy-buddy with who ran that shit that did the great purgening on that area. All while they virtue signaled over being less misogynist than GeeDubz while having actual staff commission porn of their Repentia bootlegs.

They were only the stupid motherfuckers who chose to hire them, and agree with them.

Technically the lore is mutable due to it being very early on in its setting and they're trying to figure out what they want to do with it. A lot of games have early adaptation issues when it just starts out. Reminder that WarHams fantasy took until 3e to solidify into what it would become. Similar trends can be seen in the World of Darkness. My issue isn't in them trying to hash out the lore: my issue is that this is a very lame attempt to sponge off of the 40k aesthetic using art that TBH just feels like Artstation assets used by people inspired by Keith Thompson, the artist for the Leviathan books.

I don't know why people say these look awesome; their painted models for the generic troops suck due to their color choices. The brown and gray aesthetic don't look that great in 3D, and the only ones I liked were people painting them with pops of color, and that's something the company didn't do.

It also could've done the far fucking smarter thing and just focus on one of the "fronts" of the eternal lame and gay Demon War, bang out the core factions, and then add on based on feedback. It'd be a smaller release scale that allows them to martial and focus on something for the now, and it'd make it easier for the models to get into the people who fucking backed its' hands.

They can't even get the whales they have their game, so what is there to review?

That's because they're running out of money. I expect them to go bankrupt very soon honestly given the desperate pivot. Reminder that they still haven't given all their backers the shit they paid for yet.

There's a few that don't suck, and that's the stuff their new company made. In fact I originally thought that because that company made the Prussians, that they were likely responsible for the shitty mormons and the other crap.

Trench Crusade is so toxic they tarnish anyone associated with them in my view.

Just one other small thing that I haven’t seen covered thus far regarding Trench Crusade, they abandoned Twitter for BlueSky at the start of ‘25.

Seems crazy to me that a fledgling company would abandon its ~64k Twitter account to flee to a platform with zero reach, but it helps explain why it imploded so fantastically.

I'll admit, the early art for Troon Crusade was pretty cool in a gnarly, fucked-up, Cannibal Corpse Album Cover way.

However, letting some retard troon fuck up the lore and turn it into some stupid reddit-tier "EvErYoNe Is EvIl, InClUdInG tHe ChRiStIaNs!" faggotry is pure idiocy.

Tax: I REALLY like the intro they used for Episodes 3 & 4 and I hope they use it on all of them going forward.

I kinda forget that they portrayed the Tau as aliens with vagina mouths to start the series.

I forget if Tom and Don hate the Tau for being lame. Anything cool or grim dark about their faction gets retconned and they have boring weapons. Just in general the worst Xenos race.
