🐱 'Star Wars' Defends Queer Characters From LGBTQ Hate - Are you sure this will help us sell more movie tickets?

Star Wars is defending the franchise’s inclusion of LGBTQ characters. The official Twitter account responded to a complaint about queer characters being in the universe, writing that “queer characters existing isn’t political.”

It also pointed out that the word, wars, “is literally in our name.”

The tweet quickly earned thousands of likes, while one user responded, “You just earned back a follower, official Star Wars account! You are making a difference!”

The franchise’s defense of LGBTQ characters comes as the brand was celebrating Pride month by releasing special covers of its Star Wars comics during “a time dedicated to uplifting, honoring, and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community’s impact in the world.”

The variant covers were “created by LGBTQIA+ artists and showcases LGBTQIA+ characters of the Star Wars galaxy, featuring trade dress with a rainbow burst and a classic Star Wars logo with a rainbow trail.”

The pushback on anti-LGBTQ rhetoric also follows Chris Evans’ defense of Lightyear’s inclusion of a gay kiss between two married female characters, which has resulted in the animated film being banned in certain countries.

“Every time there’s been social advancement as we wake up, the American story, the human story is one of constant social awakening and growth and that’s what makes us good,” Evans told Reuters. “There’s always going to be people who are afraid and unaware and trying to hold on to what was before. But those people die off like dinosaurs. I think the goal is to pay them no mind, march forward and embrace the growth that makes us human.”

The actor also said that critics of the inclusive moment “are idiots.”

As for Star Wars, this is not the first time it's taken to social media to call out hate-filled comments and reactions from fans. A few weeks prior, the franchise slammed the racist attacks made against Obi-Wan Kenobi star Moses Ingram with co-star Ewan McGregorsaying that anyone who has made those “horrendous” comments are “no Star Warsfan.”

They should try defending them against China and the Middle East now.

Oh wait, those countries are real unlike the imaginary haters they make up.

Also someone needs to tell Captain America to come out of the closet if he's going to be such an ally already. We all know you suck dick dude stop pretending if it's no big deal.

Kenobi comes out and nobody cares, two days later Disney suddenly marches out screaming about how the fanbase is full of literal Hitlers who are all evil racists to drum up attention for the show.
Lightyear comes out and nobody cares, two days later Disney suddenly marches out screaming about how the fanbase is full of literal Hitlers who are all evil homophobes to drum up attention for the movie.

Hm.

Hmmmmmmm. I'm nearly seeing a pattern here.
Why did this never happen with mace windu and lando?
Because people generally don't give a shit if you character doesn't suck or doesn't feel like a token. Instead we've had two things in a row from Disney, Kenobi and Lightyear, both about legacy white characters that people enjoy from their childhood and both of them are like "Look, I get it, you like these guys... BUT... look at this cool new black woman we've stuck in here who is just better than them in every way? Bet you fucking LOVE them!" And then when no one does, it's time to drum up controversy and blame the fans, not the writers.

No one cared about a black woman playing Ahsoka. No one cared about Lando (both in the originals and in Solo). No one cared Vader was voiced by a black dude. But that goes against the narrative so ignore it. I've literally seen SW fans going "Omg, wait until the racists find out Vader is voiced by James Earl Jones!" Like... everyone knows that. Why're you acting like suddenly people will hate Vader? It's one of the best known things about him.

I've seen people rewriting history and saying people only didn't like Jar Jar because he was voiced by a black man. This is the level we've reached. I remember people hated Jar Jar because he was considered a negative depiction of a black person, that's a lot of why he was unpopular (apart from being annoying). I didn't even know he was voiced by a black dude.

The account sent an horde against one single critic with like three followers:

Before, they did the same for another account:

Then, black critics:

Nobody would hate black\asian\lgbt characters if they were made good. You're just protecting trash from the deserved critique.

This, I've not got a problem with Black, Asian or Middle eastern characters, I just hate it when they are forced in and make being whatever minority they are the only facet of there Charichter that matters.

Someone tried challenging me on this and Alex Foley from Beverly Hills Cop, it's one of the few film series I have on VHS, DVD and Digital because I like the film so much, and Danny Glover as Murtaugh in Lethal Weapon was without a doubt my ideal partner if I was in a 80's buddy cop film.

I'll only take disney any more seriously on this subject when they stop editing out black people not just from film posters, but editing down there parts as much as they can and when they stop removing LGBT sceens from the films they cry they are so happy to have them in in other parts of the world and take the same stand they do there as they do in the west.

It is speculated the Disney / Ewan reaction was due to this Mecharandom42 video. Many kiwis believe she deserves a thread here but nobody so far is up for the task of archiving, listening, writing about, and looking at her to write the OP.

Lol, this bitch basically got driven out of the Fandom Menace for being a drama queen and perpetual pain in the ass. She barely gets any views anymore.

Imagine, Disney using a video by a literal nobody to start a panic about how the fandom has a hate problem.

Actually, that sounds par the course for the last six years.
