Anyone else play this? It came out this week on Steam and has been the top seller. I picked it up Monday and have already logged in 30+ hours on top of working a full time job. Really fun game. Combines elements of Harvest Moon, Legend of Zelda, and crafting games. The controls and UI is way improved over HM and it's so addictive that I keep forgetting to smoke while playing it.

Wish it went with different dialogue sprites. I keep expecting them to look like Harvest Moon and it throws me when they don't.

Oh man, I had no idea about this game! Thanks @Flowers For Sonichu . Although it's easy to call this game a "Harvest Moon Clone"....I'm a huge Harvest Moon ho-bag. Will be getting this asap.

I see it as a love letter to the Harvest Moon series myself. I bought it yesterday and dang, is it addictive. Though fishing is tricky.

I picked a male farmer with light brown skin, trendy hair and named him Leo. What about you guys?

Weren't people angry because the game was supposed to come out with co-op as a feature and the developer said it would be released later as free DLC?
I'm into Harvest Moon, I might get it if it goes on sale

I picked a male farmer with dark brown skin (tried to nail the skin color of a Southeast Asian) along with picking a normal hairstyle (or rather the closest normal hairstyle that falls under casual or slightly bedraggled). Might replay to go for a cat rather than a dog, as well as farming more profitable crops. Want to get the stuffed rabbit from the egg festival.

So who are you planning to marry? I ended up with Haley.

Haley or Penny. Next time I start an entirely new character, I might actually go for one of the male characters, either the doctor or the guy living with his grandparents.

My farmer is basically Charlie Brown except for the baldness and the fact that he's black. The shirt design I picked even resembles it and I own a dog named Snoopy. And since he's pining for a red-haired girl, I'm going towards Penny.

But my next farmer will be a female owning a cat and Abigail is going to be her true love. :D Yeah, I'm going the lesbian route with her. ;)

stardew is such a wonderful game, its insane to me how its one guy working on it (mostly) and how much content it has for only $15.
I honestly cant imagine playing stardew w/o mods though. I've never done any mods that add content, mostly just quality of life mods/visual mods so i'll definitely check out the cornucopia mods next time I get the urge to play!!

I never 100%'d the game and usually become bored by the time I am done fiddling with the golden walnuts, but mods sounds interesting. Would you care to post a list of the ones you consider the most important for the experience? I hear there is a major one that adds more villagers and practically an entire different town.

Naptime's Masterlist Of Mods For Stardew Valley:
This is in no particular order. I'm categorizing these mods into 3 shitty sections. please note there's a high likelihood you'll have to get a few other mods to make cornucopia work - spacecore comes to mind - but it'll give you a prompt to install and that it won't work without the other mods inc. smapi. and it generally is quite reliable for flagging before a download:

Mods You Should Get
SMAPI - YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BOOT ANY OF THE MODS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS INSTALLED. Link Here.
Tractor Mod - does what it says on the tin. you have to pay a hefty fee to acquire it in game and get some good items, but it makes farming an absolute breeze. Link Here.
Cornucopia Flower Mod - adds more flowers and bushes to your game. Link Here.
Cornucopia Tree and Crop Mod - adds more trees, bushes and crops to your game. Link Here.
Cornucopia Artisan Machines - did dehydrators before it was cool as well as a cute mechanic for drying herbs etc. can be used in conjunction with base game etc. Link Here.
CJB Cheats mod and the CJB Item Spawner - adjusts walking speed (a godsend); health, money, etc. generally v gud if you want to get around quicker. can also configure to autogrow/autocure crops/artisan produce. The item spawner, shockingly, is a directory of every item available in the game. Link Here, and Link Here.
Content Patcher - does some gud stuff in conjunction w other mods. Link Here.
Giant Crops - sick of there only being 1 cool giant crop per season??? make giant crops of all of your seeds!! afaik not compatible (yet?) with cornucopia, but super fun. Link Here.
Destoyable Bushes - destroy bushes. Link Here.

Mods That Improve Minor Stuff
Neat Cellar - if you're like me and a bit of a neat freak, this really makes it a lot nicer to go to. Link Here.
Polished Penny - nice girl, has the personality of a bit of wet cardboard. this mod helps her feel a little bit more fleshed out. Link Here.
Icon Mods - if you're not a fan of the bog standard concernedape style, you can get better ones that fit your tastes here. Link Here.

Mods That Are Just Fun
Seasonal Buildings - changes your barn, coop, etc to be seasonal and a bit more tastefully decorated. Link Here.

There's a bunch on nexus that i'm probably missing out on - but yeah! give those a whirl. in ref to stardew valley expanded - it is a good add on afaik, but i've never played it (yet!) so i'd be unable to verify its quality.

i hope this helps you all! <3

Is there any way I can get a new fucking coffee maker I accidentally set off a bomb in my kitchen and it took out a couple of preserves jars and my coffee maker, and I used to wait three days to save up the coffees to make triple thing, so I could move faster.
It's fucking retarded there's not a sprint ability. Even fucking Harvest Moon Back To Nature on the PS1 had a sprint button.

He can do so because that's the #1 game people think of when they hear indie devs. It was released in a time when indie and self-publishing was impressive and worthwhile. "A guy quit his job for this!" stories, or those 5 scandinavians who literally illegally squatted to create a Gauntlet clone or some shit. Now, indie is $1.2m on kickstarter and jewish funding to include tranny-inducing narratives.

That said, I too have dipped out of Stardew so many times. I feel like sprinklers are too much of a luxury when the game has already started layering on mechanics and things to do. Every other game lets you automate or make easier the daily grind quite early on, almost to the point it feels TOO early in some cases. Stardew? Great, I can water 8 of my 32 sprouts automatically. Spend half my stamina on watering.

That always seems to be my problem with games like Stardew as well. At first you can fill an entire day with stuff to do but once you automate a lot of it and if you aren't interested in hearing the same three NPC responses over and over again you just get bored since there's no challenge or wall to overcome.

The Longevity mod for Stardew and using SDE's more expensive buildings mod definitely helped but the only recent base game I've played that didn't have that problem was My Time at Sandrock since you had quests and other activities to grind at the same time as building out your commissions (which is that game's version of farming).

I haven't yet played Rune Factory 4 but I've heard that game has lots more dynamic activities as well.
