Pleasantly Surprised
Games that I heard of before, but I was surprised when playing them

Always On Edge
Games that keep you always on edge, one missed second can ruin your run, for those overly-caffinated.

Every Move Matters
Tactics games that force you to think moves ahead

The Rhythm Award
Games that had a unique take on the rhythm genre

Relaxing Experiences
Games that you just wanna chill and play without stress

Great Use Of Cards
Games that bring a fresh take on the card mechanics.

Autistic Detail
Games that require an autistic level of investment and understanding to play properly.

Great Tactics
Tactical games that have unique mechanics, and feel fun to play

Great Idlers
Idlers that require a little bit of thinking and management.

Can Go Either Way
Games that look great, but have an equal chance of turning into turds.

Its gonna be just indiefag shit just like the E3 (but not really) showcase isn't it?

No Steam Nextfest is different.

You can watch livestreams of devs playing the games instead of short videos of upcomming games. Also all the games on Nextfest have a demo.

Anyway, Hyper Gunsport is quite a neat fighting game. Nails the SF graphical style.

I didn't look forward to Cult Of The Lamb; it looked generic and boring. After playing the demo, I do.

I like that you made a thread but none of the games you're linking are interesting to me and I couldn't find any on my own. This is deeply concerning. Well, not so much, I've got a wishlist of older stuff that's pretty deep. But even the indies can't release good games now?

Do you guys know when the Summer Sale is happening that is when I buy all my shit usually.

Some more:

Catizens is a nice combo between strategy and city builder.

Toy Tactics is a really nice, simple tactics game. Quality is high.

Tyrant's Blessing is Into The Breach but fantasy. It's a cute little game and expands a lot on the formula.

Potion Permit is Stardew Valley where you're a doctor/alchemist.

Horror Tycoon I was actually looking forward to play, but it's just a shitty Unreal Engine asset flip.

It's more that the barrier for entry to the indie scene is somewhere below ground level, and the average quality is only a little higher. Fishing through all the lame ones for the good shit is a chore, and there's no guarantee who or what will cause the next super-surge.

I tried Terra Invicta. I still have no idea what is going on or really what to do thanks to a shite tutorial coupled with the fact the devs are being massive faggots and not letting people make save files because they are worried about people cracking the demo.

So I've added it to my 'pirate out of spite' list.

Spark The Electric Jester is what sonic 3D should have been.

If you want to continue the Oddworld Saga, Soulstorm has a Demo available.

The Final Earth 2 has basically the whole game available as a demo. A lot of features missing but the game is still there.

Depersonalization is an interesting Lovecraft inspired JRPG. You get to make your character, go through a story, DnD style, while the combat is JRPG style.

Anyway, end of the event, and I made a sort of list of the ones that I think are worth checking out/looking forward to.

some stuff I probably gonna check out later:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1967510/Railbound/ - fun little puzzle game that can fry your brain
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1767170/Super_Bullet_Break/ - turn based deckbuilder with interesting mechanics and enough depth to get autistic if you want to
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1809540/Nine_Sols/ - 2d sekiro by the devotion devs, looks fucking gorgeous with an interesting story
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1035760/Glimmer_in_Mirror/ - older one, child of light: the metroidvania
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1723560/Ballads_of_Hongye/ - chink anno. haven't played too much of it but looks interesting enough to come back to
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1306970/Diluvian_Ultra/ - boomer shooter. either you like or hate them
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1390410/Midnight_Fight_Express/ - isometric brawler inspired by hotline miami
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1592280/Selaco/ - another boomer shooter. really liked it but gotta see how it ends up. modders went devs, and you can see it in their behavior.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1574480/Agent_64_Spies_Never_Die/ - literally goldeneye from the n64. but who cares?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1061910/Metal_Hellsinger/ - biggest production value award. rhythm game/shooter, but since I'm not a speedrun/score tranny prolly gonna pick that up on sale at some point.

there were more way more I haven't mentioned or even played yet, they really need to trim the amount down or extend the duration....

I don't think I've actually bought anything on Steam in a decade and it is a program I open up almost every day.
same. bundles and keysites like gamersgate on the other hand...

except that's the easiest way to get your game buried and shit on when compared to the rest that's featured during that week, there are already way too many (seriously I downloaded around 40-50 demos and yet almost none of those were mentioned in this thread).
and as always, sturgeon's law and the realities of indie game development still apply (only certain genres and only limited production value as an indie).

iirc one is the adult version, one the "normal" one.
