Time for a thread on a genre that I appreciate unironically, despite its supposed demise.

This thread is for Disco, Post-Disco, Italo Disco, Nu-Disco, and even closely related genres like Funk, Motown, and Hi-NRG.

Might as well open up with Disco Stu's theme song itself.

I think Disco is a pretty valid genre tbh. There's some artistry in how the strings are played to accent a mood or beat in a song. Most of the Disco hits now are the good stuff anyways and no one remembers the shitty songs like Disco Duck.

Anyways the full version of MacArthur's Park is pretty good.

Nice, I love those one entire side of an album jams:
Everyone except Moroder on this album cover definitely was lost to AIDS

There was some real talent that got involved in the disco craze. The most impressive vocally is Cheryl Lynn and pretty underviewed imo.

This song takes a while to get going but man when it does... and the peak at around 5:20 is something to be experienced. Never heard a human voice do it like she does.

Some disco tunes I love. Will add more over time.

Deep cut right there, sought after record too, more like this please!

This was from about the same time, it was more of a Jazz Funk staple in the UK although David Mancuso used to spin it:

Some early disco classics:
