Biggest one for me has to be the segway because of how big the launch was and how bad it crashed. I remember seeing it on the news when I was like 10 and thinking it was the coolest thing ever, but it was like $2500 IIRC, that's used car territory. When I got to try one like two years later it was kinda cool but not $2500 cool, not even close. Thought it wasn't catching on because it was so expensive but its like $500 now, cheaper than an iphone and as much as a decent electric scooter, yet I don't see anyone riding on a segway now either even with all the "mobility" crap with stuff like those one wheel things, meanwhile the segway launched at the height of the SUV craze.

Didn't help that after rich smug people the biggest customers were geriatrics and mall cops, talk about destroying what cool factor you had left.

This fucking thing ruined one of my childhood vacations.

Manhunt 2 for PSP, I remember being so excited when this was announced I saved up money to buy this piece of crap because the first Manhunt was fucking awesome. Not only did they censor the hell out of it, but the levels were dogshit, and the story was fucking awful. It was the second to last game I ever preordered, the last being Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, which while the online play was pretty fun for PSP, the ending of the campaign was one of the biggest disappointments for any fan of the series.

Edit: nevermind it was reversed, it was the last game I ever preordered

Flashback to the time that Jamster bought the same ad slot on every channel in the UK (pre-yt and VOD) so you were left frantically changing channel for about a minute, trying to get away from the fucking Frog. We had Sky and it was on every fucking Sky channel as well as the terrestrial ones.
Supposedly Jamster stole all their IP as well. They didn't create the Crazy Frog. They were also predatory as fuck as they signed you up to a subscription that was practically impossible to cancel.

porn. when i was a young teenager i used to think it would be cool to be a porn producer.
joining the army. when i was a kid to early teen i thought being in the military would be pretty cool.

the segway

i thought they were cool for about a month when i first saw them, then i saw how dorky the people who ride them are and i changed my mind./

true. when i was in 9th grade i thought smoking pot and doing LSD would be very cool. i now know much better.

PDAs. When a few of my friends got them around 2003, I thought they were the hottest shit and absolute lifechangers. I have a smartphone now, which I use to
  • receive email on wifi at home
  • learn moon runes
  • navigate on long bike trips, occasionally
  • take photos of autistic stuff and photo notes
  • take voice notes
I got it for corporate espionage and used it for that purpose for about a month. I'd already had a cheapass camera and a professional dictation machine by the time I got a phone.
Garmin is better for navigation and I didn't need it in 2003 anyway.
The moon rune app is Android software, this is just a sad fact of life. I wouldn't use a phone if I had a choice.
Email on wifi at home is the only thing for which a palm-sized battery-powered computer is perfect, but far from a lifechanger.

(I also thought walkie-talkies were cool, and I still do! But my dream walkie-talkie is 1. useful outside and 2. free, which a phone can't be simultaneously.)

Like half their job is cleaning jizz off the cameras, I rather be the guy laying pipe.
true, but when you think producer as a dumb teen you dont think of that aspect. as for laying pipe, im sure the producers are sleeping with the women as well, but they dont have the pressure and time constraints of doing it for a porno.

I thought those Japanese TV watches were the coolest thing ever, I really wanted one as a kid.

The fucking thing runs out of battery really quick.
In order to get any signal on it, you had to carry that black thing in the back of the pic with you.
The audio and video quality was shit, not even close to what you see here.
Just a bad product that, while innovative, came way too early, the tech just wasn't there yet.

Not entirely so, but watches, specifically analog wrist watches (for maximum coolness).

But with the way that I am, I generally don't like to have something bound to me (to my wrist in this case), I prefer to be free of things as much as I can. It's hardly ever going to be used for telling what time it is anyways, if I'm bringing a mobile phone.

It can be cool, sometimes, I just prefer to be liberated from stuff.

Punks. Biggest losers I've ever met and gets worse every day thanks to the reddit-like nature of today's punks. That and they're hypocrites that won't let me say nigger, faggot, tranny, or retard.

They are almost or actually antifa and suck brown muslim immigrant dick. One wouldn't guess they will like an ideology that is so antithetical to their lifestyle, but it is what it is.

For me, in my teen and uni years it were goths. I liked the fashion and aesthetics, but (not all goths, of course) too many of them seem to be into weird BDSM & fetish shit and aren't quite sane either.
