Subforum for academics & pseudoscience

So there are a few people/topics which I feel are worthy of a subforum:

• Elon Musk (no thread afaik)
• John McAfee (no thread afaik)
• People who have created some significant work (software and not games) but have threads here for reasons (Terry A. Davis)
• People who are prominent within psuedo-science or are psuedo-intellectuals
• People who are involved in open source software and other communities
• Cuckademics

I guess its difficult to define exact requirements if this was ever made, but probably more people involved in academia and psuedoscience than typical SJW/political lolcows. I don't really think every single lolcow who has an academic background would go in, there would have to be a bit of a distinction in picking people who are more academic/psuedoscience than regular lolcow.

If the idea were to be expanded I guess you could also include people who are pseudo-intellectuals as well.

The reason I suggest this is that there is a legal subforum and I feel that this is another area which would do well to be "distinguished".

There is also a lot of money being spent by the EU in researching "hate speech" and "harassment" online. The Cuckademics are the tip of the iceberg but it can be assumed we're going to see a lot of research papers and academic focus on sites like KF and others soon.

There could also be a thread for "lolcows in academia" (I know chris chan and darksydephil have been mentioned of featured in academic papers before)

Idk if that’s a good idea here. From the threads I have seen where academics have been challenged, it’s mainly been based off n user personal opinion and mental gymnastics. @weapons grade autism did some RK thread that was basically that. Our people don’t handle that kinda discussion well. It’ll just turn into Jordan Peterson and that other dude that hates trannies getting their balls washed and people who give their research coven weird names being trash canned for disagreeing with the kiwi.

Why a subforum and not a tag?

I was going to mention that right now we don't seem to have enough content to even have that, really.

That's kind of my thoughts at the moment. Because the threads are all within the lolcow subforum a lot of the discussion doesn't really have a "topic". I'd hope that if they were separated we might get some more thoughtful posting (somewhere on the level of the legal subforum )

My feelings on this is that by taking that approach we would be moving even further away from lolcow content. As it stands, things have been pretty dry on the content front as people have been focusing on posting political news stories rather than digging up funny shit. I mean even when you look at lolcow proper, this is what you see:

Trannies and essjaydubyas. If we were to open an academics and pseudoscience forum, it just seems like it would turn into what the Salt Mine turned into where it was just a place to go dumpster people not agreed with. We need funny content, not shitting-on-people-disagreed-with content and I cannot imagine how we will get the latter, not the former from such a forum.
