You know how a bunch of people killed themselves in 2000 because they thought the world would end? Or what about all the people that killed themselves because it was cool when Cobain did it? I think the dumbest reason to kill yourself would be because someone else dies, and I'm not talking about old married couples, more like superfans who do it when there favorite band member or actor dies. is there any person alive that you would consider suicide because life's not worth living without them? Alternatively, who would be the person that, if they died tomorrow, would take the most people with them?

It might be that I'm just not plugged in to the media, but I can't think of anyone so huge and loved that them being dead would cause a large amount of suicides. I also can't think of anyone with such a cult-like following that the same thing would happen. It just seems like everyone is a meme nowadays, there's much less of an 'actual' connection between people and celebrities.

I see it from the opposite direction. People aren't imitating or copycatting suicides so much as they are just reminded that sucide exists. Suicide is basically the "Quit Game" button of life. Civilization, philosophy and especially religion do their best to make that button invisible because life actually kind of sucks. Even in modern society, with all the bells and whistles we have, life is still really shitty and difficult to deal with. Then you factor in how much worse things are in other places and how bad life can get if your finances and mental health go south.

Some people say that we shouldn't even discuss suicide because just reminding people that its possible is enough to let some people commit to it. I think that says more about the world at large than it does about the people offing themselves, unfortunately.

I was thinking the same thing, didn't a bunch of North Koreans an-hero after Kim-Il-sung died? or was he the one where they just pretended he was alive for 50 years and then stopped talking about it, sorta like Elvis

I believe it, I remember seeing a picture of North Korean women weeping because if the government determined you weren't grieving hard enough, your family got thrown in the labor camp.

I would kill myself if I woke up one day and I was a cow or something equally embarassing.

I'd be sad if my favorite celebrities died, but there's not really anything that would make my life not worth living unless it made being alive worse than being dead.
 
I think the dumbest reason to suicide is out of curiosity. When I was 8 I considered suicide just because I really wanted to know what happens when you die.
I'd probably also be someone who would die and take a bunch of people with me but I've always wanted to try and build a personal nuclear reactor of nuke so it would be by complete accident.
 
When Amberlynn Reid finally kicks the bucket we're gonna see a lot of kiwis stop posting.
