As with all internet autism, I have to begin by introducing a list of websites:
Super Mario Wiki is an independently run wiki focusing on the Super Mario Bros. Franchise. The community that edits this wiki primarily interacts with each other on the offshoot forum supermarioboards, which is hosted and ran by the same administration.
Super Mario Wiki is a member of an organization known as NIWA (Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance). Administrators from one site are often prominent figures in the other communities as well. This network also includes Bulbapedia, Bulbagarden and bulbagarden forums, the site that was wrapped up in grooming allegations from this site in the recent past. On paper, these wikis and their hosting companies are not permitted to interfere with each other. However, due to the overlap in administrations, these wikis are much more intertwined than they appear. Because of this interconnected nature, dramatic happenings often have ripple effects across multiple wikis, forums and discord servers.
It should come as no surprise that the members of these fan wiki communities are often quite retarded. A few common traits permeate the wiki community and culture. First and foremost, they often treat documenting comically trivial details about children's games as an important intellectual pursuit. Many of them have bizarre obsessions, a sense of self aggrandizement, and naturally, autism. This leads to a near infinite depth of interesting personalities, comedic interactions, and otherwise lulzy content.
We start off this thread with the event that inspired it's creation. Recently an announcement was posted publicizing the average users capacity for atrocious decision making:
Super Mario Wiki Fraud/Scam Saga
The star of our show is former moderator/sysop: Alex95, named Alex Bodine. He is/was a powermod on the NIWA network, serving roles on Mario Wiki, F-zero wiki, Lylat Wiki and others. Additionally, he is the lead designer/'programmer' of his personal game, Powermaster. He claims to have autism and Tourettes. As it appears, Alex contacted a wide array of people related to the SMW/NIWA communities asking for personal loans of large sums of money. Screenshots show that he claimed to be in need of financial assistance due to being evicted or other medical emergencies. Bafflingly, these requests were actually granted. This continued for nearly half a year, untill SMW admins released the following statement on SMBF revealing the extent of the situation:
"A few weeks ago, we banned Alex95 due to learning that he had obtained around $9,000 USD from various members of the community under false pretenses, from August 2021 through March 2022. At the time, we banned him with a quick notice, as the understanding was that his actions were relatively minor and he was working to repay people now that he had been banned.
However, over the past couple weeks, he ceased repayments, made major financial decisions, and most significantly, it turned out that the scale of financial fraud was much higher than previously known. We now have information that Alex took around a total of $75,000 USD from various people, which had severe knock-on effects for multiple people who could no longer financially support themselves, and there is enough information to suspect some of this money was obtained through embezzlement." - Super Mario Boards Official Announcement (archive)
You may want to congratulate him as a mastermind for defrauding trannies, but make no mistake, he is a retard too. In fact, he took special care to publish a website, Powermaster Wiki (archive), with his and his brothers personal information under the same company he was defrauding. Allegedly, he also sent his targets personal information including his address, credit card number, and even SSN. These claims have not been verified and come from trannies so they should be taken with an entire shaker of salt. He seems to be the most connected person in the network barring the owner of the whole network's hosting company, Grifkuba. MarioWiki users claim that his writing style has changed a few times, thus they concluded that his wife sent most of the requests for money.
However, the average Mario Wiki users have proven themselves to be even further along the wrong end of the IQ water slide. Several users have admitted to contacting their friends and family to fundraise on Alex's behalf. Many of them were offered absurd terms of repayment, such as deliveries from Door Dash. They all believed that status as a Super Mario Wiki administrator was too prestigious to possibly be desecrated by any less than pure intentions.

There is one whale to rule over them all however. A sucker that got bamboozled for 65 Grand. This person has claimed to have taken out loans and credit card debt to distribute to a relative nobody on the internet. He claims that this situation has caused him so much financial stress that it killed the business he runs and lead to the suicide of a personal friend. They claim to have contributed almost half of the total scammed money. To not damage a potential lawsuit and future comedy, their name will not be provided at this time. If that ever comes to fruition, I will update the thread accordingly.
Durring the day following the announcement, the people that donated money began to openly discuss their failure:

It is now being alleged that Alex embezzled money from Grifkuba Hosting's treasury. That company makes the best financial decisions known to man and allows people the owner does not know in real life access to their financial accounts.
So far, the only statement from Alex is:

Update 1
The retards that got bamboozled have formed a discord server to discuss their legal options. I can not see the inside of it, but from off handed comments I can roughly tell the status. They seem to be arriving to the conclusion that they are actually just incompetent and should never be allowed to be in charge of sums exceeding a two dollar bill. From what I have been told, the small paypigs contacted their banks and the banks basically refused to file fraud claims because they willingly sent the money to a stranger on the internet. I have no proof of this. Mr. Beluga with the 65 grand in debt may genuinely have legs to stand on and has allegedly begun conversations with a lawyer but is worried his already insurmountable debt will only become worse with legal fees.

Update 2
Someone, presumably a reader of this thread, went to Powermaster wiki and contributed some frighteningly missing information about a subject the wiki extensively covers. (For the record this is why I'm waiting on putting Beluga Whale out there because he will rightfully get shit on for this, I just wanna let things develop naturally first)

The moderator strangely removed this important information, and other friends took notice.

The administration continues to be more concerned over protecting Alex from harassment and ensuring no mean words are said about him or his disabilities on the internet than they are with collecting their own money. So the current status is: Getting Away With It
Further updates to the thread will be made as the situation develops

The Wider Community
With such a large and interconnected community, there are minor to large happenings occurring on a near constant basis. Most minor events stay mostly contained within their own wiki, but once to twice a year the whole network gets thrown into chaos over irreconcilable differences.
While large scale happenings are hilarious, the day-to-day output from the Super Mario Wiki community is nothing short of comedy gold.
They publish a newsletter, called the 'shroom, where the editors and administrators relive their glory days of Middle School journalism class by publishing content that shows they never mentally left the fourth grade (see rising sun reviews). A farmer in this thread likened it to classic Something Awful newsletters.
Featured Articles:
Evolutionary Theory of the Koppas.... multiple times.... shits whack
A dissertation on the history of troons in vidya
Articles from the wiki are written as if the users think they are the Transgender reincarnation of Charles Darwin researching in the Mushroom Kingdom. Debates about zoological features of characters nobody has ever heard of get heated. Meanwhile, the Sword of Damascus that is the gender identity of fictional characters such as Birdo hangs over the janny's head (Archive/ Talk Archive).
Bowser Did Nothing Wrong (archive)
Gender Identity of Vivian (archive / talk archive)
National Geographic article on Koopa Troopas
Charlie Dawin's theory of evolution, observing Rockey Wrench and Goombas
Naturally, many of these actors in our previous show have hilarious online presences as well:
Ray Trace / Baby Luigi On Fire is a 27 year old gender fluid slav that larps as a member of "The Protectors", a cohort of Baby Luigi recolor OCs reminiscent of the Chaotic Combo. They have quickly become a thread favorite for their baffling obsession with the C-list character Baby Luigi. They also seem to have an odd love/hate relationship with Wario. Outside of the wiki, they produce laughable fan art and... oddly unironically funny mods for Mario Kart 8 and others.

Their sibling is not any better.

Crazy Craving / Princess Viola /Emily the Stirling Engine is notable for having the most funny forum signature I have ever seen. Their token obsession's are Thomas the Train and troonsformers.

Alex himself has a treasure trove of strange artwork and writing on the Powermaster wiki / game. I have downloaded the game and started to play it. I highly recommend reading the wiki (a full archive is in progress, the site may be deleted in the near future either by Alex or by Grifkuba). If the site goes down, I will post a backup to the game.

Clinking on any user profile, talk page, or forum thread is likely to land you a window into the inane world of someone who's life will never be complete until Nintendo confirms the astrological sign on the first Goomba in world 1-1. The ride does not seem to be ending any time soon.
