They don’t want you to know this but not paying taxes is a simple misdemeanor with a small fine. Lying on your taxes on the other hand is a felony offense.

Taxes are merely a suggestion. Soon taxes won’t even be a suggestion in America under Trump. The secret is to file for an extension in Spring and forget about it.

This sounds like a joke but I know multi millionaires who do this. This is real advice. Just forget to pay your taxes and take a slap on the wrist.

I wish they were optional, like a checklist you can choose to pay for things you want (or don't want). Like, you can be ACAB and refuse to pay taxes for the police but you can't call 911, shit like that.
They are optional. You can simply forget to pay them. If you refuse you get in trouble. But nobody will blame you if you have a bad memory.

Can you elaborate?

What is the benefit of doing this? By the end or in the long run, you'll be paying more than if you just paid your taxes in time, right?

“Taxation is the price we pay for failing to build a civilized society. The higher the tax level, the greater the failure. A centrally planned totalitarian state represents a complete defeat for the civilized world, while a totally voluntary society represents its ultimate success.”

- Mark Skousen

the benefit of doing this is they can only ask for up to 25% of your unpaid tax. You can pay the 25% and still forget to pay the tax.
I am not acquainted with US law about taxation at all, but this seems like a major oversight (intended or not) and ridiculous; you'd think something like this would be more commonly known if it was the case.

So by "forgetting" you end up only paying 25%? And no other consequence? Like there is negligence, how are you not going to be punished for it?

What he’s referring to is the penalties and such for failing to pay tax. They are bounded and limited and since the taxman knows he will get his eventually, they’re not terribly bad.

This is why they go so hard on withholding but if you’re rich enough that the majority of your tax comes elsewhere it MIGHT make sense.

Usually not. But if you can beat 10% on your money …

Trump specifically mentioned dismantling the IRS in his inauguration speech, and even though Elon is already gutting entire government departments, there has been suspiciously little progress on the whole IRS thing during the ongoing active tax season.

Really makes ya think.

yeah like, pay for the police, the roads, firefighters, the military clean water facilities etc.

Why is it that our taxes pay for crackheads in the ghetto but we don't have a paid for firehall? that makes no goddamned sense.
