Feedback Technical Grievances

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
How do I find my bookmarks on mobile. Oh and how do I change my signature under my username, I used to be able too but I can’t find the button anymore.
Quite a bit seems to have vanished from mobile, the watched threads page is half-useless because you can't tell which threads are unread, there used to be a distinction but now you just have to guess or click them all.

This thread says it's in Deathfats, but it doesn't show up. If you search for "kailyn" in thread titles and in the death fat forum it says there are no results. The only way I can see it right now is if I search her name, and then posts in the thread show up. I even just posted in it, and it still doesn't show up.
It was recently moved from B.P to deathfats, so maybe that is a factor?
edit: fixed

I want to politely report a possible bug on the forums. Every time that I go and post, I type my post per usual and then I see the cursor flash where it shouldn't. It has happened to me all day today, and I managed to get a screencap of the bug in action.

I don't know if that is a bug or not, but I figured that I would be safe and report it anyway.

I cant see youtube videos when browsing on TOR, anyone having the same issue?

I only get a blank space, not even the code/URL to the video, weird

Only happens when using the kiwi onion address though
That's because your Tor exit node is IP blocked. Try requesting a new node.
Tor onion is designed to block plugins like Javascript, which will break YouTube. That has nothing to do with Kiwifarms. That's a Tor feature, because YouTube is used by Google to track you.
untrue, tor browser blocks onion on all unencrypted sites by default (not onions, not https, only http). onions don't have anything to do with it
You can technically check your Tor settings, enable Javascript and scripts, and troubleshoot using a guide to turn YouTube back on. But it's not really recommended because it defeats the purpose of Tor. There are better privacy workarounds that retrieve videos anonymously for viewing.
no, that's not the root cause
EDIT: It's important that Tor blocks Javascript because it can sometimes be used to reach through the TOR protections, and access your real IP and computer metadata. Google likes to try and do this.
no, this is only possible with a zero-day exploit. "normal" javascript cannot do this. theoretically, Tor should be well-sandboxed enough.

Since Tor circuits are domain-specific, you have to be on youtube.com to get a new circuit for that site. The way to do this is to go to z.youtube.com (any youtube.com URL that gives an error page without redirecting to some other domain would work) and then request a new Tor circuit.

No, circuits are specific per origin. You will have a different circuit for visiting YouTube embeds on Kiwi Farms than for YouTube videos directly on YouTube. You will have the same circuit for KF and all its embeds.

Does Tor Browser do this differently from Brave's Tor integration? Because on Brave I'm positive that getting a new KF Tor circuit did nothing for the YouTube embeds, vs. what I described which actually did work (once you found a working exit node for YouTube).

Brave's Tor implementation is hilariously insecure in all sorts of ways, I didn't even think they did stream isolation properly. It wouldn't surprise me if that's true, but it could also just be up to chance.

Yeah, and that's really fine. I'm not trying to hide from feds, just from lolcows and people who would want to hack KF and do data dumps on its users (again).

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but the "like" feature on conversations isn't working. At least on my end. Liking the post doesn't work, right clicking into new tab and changing the url doesn't work, et cetera. Not that big of a deal but would like to mention it.

Also I am using Mulvad VPN if that has any effect on it

The forum's running like ass. The only halfway reasonable way I'm able to access it right now is via the .is address using Opera's VPN (since using Tor redirects to the onion which is, as mentioned, running like ass). The .hk, .ru, .top, etc. addresses all run like ass and give timeouts on either Tor or the VPN.

I assume we're being DDoS'd, so yeah, maybe not much you can do about it, but this shit's annoying.

It's really so colossally bad they shouldn't bother, it's worse than not having it at all. I think my favorite incredibly dumb part of their implementation is having a button to open the website you're on in tor. . .after you ALREADY FUCKING OPENED IT UP IN CLEAR unless you're using a VPN in which case using tor too isn't much use to you anyway.

I get notifications of mentions in chat but can't read some of them for whatever reason, the advanced search option for chat archive would have come in handy but you made it impossible to use so.. what is a girl to do?

edit: I was able to go to some logs at a later date but not to the actual mention, I just ended up in some random conversation that I'm sure didn't relate to me at all (just mundane shitposting).

No, you just suck.

The site runs fine for me.

Like I said, .is seems to be working well enough. I didn't try .net because for all intents and purposes it seems to be the same as .is (they're both Cloudflare). The other ones not so much. Although if it is a DDoS, there may be periods when the site's more available or less available depending on the scale of the attack and/or Null's countermeasures at that given moment.

Why do webms and mp4s take so fucking long to load?
Even when it's not a huge file, half of them stop buffering around 3 seconds and either decide to load completely or not, apparently on a whim.
It's starting to get real fucking annoying to the point where I just ignore videos and move on, since even right-clicking and downloading them doesn't fix the issue.

I thought it was my VPN acting up, good to know it's not. It seems to be random, some videos load fine but others take ages, even short ones. I guess it has something to do with the DDoS and the protections Null is having to implement.

Same here. It loads a few seconds, then network error...

I've also been having these issues with embedded videos hosted on the forums for months now, and it happens on every browser I've tried. Is there a client-side fix for this or anything that can be done on the back-end of the forums? It has made watching embedded videos pretty much impossible with every single video, long or short, buffering every couple of seconds or not loading at all. And downloading them, even if the file size is very small, takes ages.

I mentioned this last week, I thought it was fixed but I was wrong. The Kailyn thread in Deathfats doesn't appear for some reason, except for on the main page when it's the most recent post.

It also doesn't show up if you search for it in Death Fats.
