Feedback Technical Grievances

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Some threads have images that can't be loaded, like this thread https://kiwifarms.net/threads/the-mrkrabs9000-tranny-porn-tab-incident.119861/

have you ever seen this happen anywhere else?

I really hate reports that are "I RECEIVE OCCASIONAL X" and by "occasional" they mean 1 time, or "THERE ARE SOMETIMSE BROKEN IMAGES" and by "sometimes" it's "this one thread".
Didn't mean to make a shitty report, I've received it before but it was before the most recent outage and I can't remember the threads.

those images specifically are actually broken, i'll have to look into it. I'm assuming you've not seen any other broken images since Saturday?

A Tor window pops up (I'm using Brave) whenever I attempt to access another part of the site or refresh the page. The Tor window subsequently loads the .onion equivalent to whatever part of the site I clicked on.
For example if I refreshed the page https://kiwifarms.net/threads/technical-grievances.16928/page-311 the request will go through but a Tor window loading http://kiwifarmsaaf4t2h7gc3dfc5ojhm...n/threads/technical-grievances.16928/page-311 will also automatically pop up. It occurs whether I'm logged in or not.
This has been happening since the site went back up and it only happens on Kiwifarms. I haven't touched my Brave settings in weeks so I'm assuming its a site issue unless I'm a retard and did something without realizing it.

Thank you.

Getting sporadic 503s and images aren't showing up 60% of the time. Oddly enough, though, post images seem to be fine? It's mostly avatars and emojis that seem to be affected this time around. And when they don't load they have that little favicon that shows it instead of just blank space or the filename like other times had.

Could we get a "like" reaction that means "I haven't the bloodiest clue what you are talking about"? It's fine if that's on the bottom of the to-do list under "take a vacation"

I didn't scour the thread to see if this has been reported. Sorry if it's a repeat. This is incredibly minor and I'd almost think it's intentional against mobile phone scum.

When posting mobile every time I backspace through a line break it will advance the caret one character.

This means if you write like an idiot and erase large parts of messages with backspace instead of selecting text to delete that it also ends up deleting the content you wanted to quote one character per line break.

I have made a change which should stop intermittent 503 errors. Basically, if the KiwiFlare proxy detected a 503, it assumed the server was down until it rechecked a minute later. I believe this would happen with any 503, and would affect all users subsequently. This is useful if you have multiple backends, which we do not anymore. I've turned this off.

Let me know if you encounter 503s that persist after a single refresh.

Experiencing some sporadic 502s, an instance of a 504 in the chat, and I just got a "Page could not be loaded" screen. Refreshing solves most of it, but I've noticed there were some threads where image thumbnails weren't loading properly, even after cache refreshing.

Just saw the Telegram post. May we fare well against this DDoS like the others.
