As dear old mom used to say, there are two kinds of problems: the kind you can fling money at to make go away, and the kind you can't. This seems like the kind of problem you can pay to make go away.

you can use certbot and auto renew , and then something like puppet manifests to drop it into other servers and applications and restart them.

I am not sure what “sneed chat” runs on but it might be a separate daemon that would need an updated cert pushed to it.

certs aren’t that expensive or difficult they’re just tedious and the renewal length that you can buy get shorter and shorter and shorter. so you’ll buy a “5” or “10” year cert but it’s only valid for 12 months and you have to resign and reinstall the fucking thing every 12 months anyway.

>ah fuck, I paid to make the problem go away, what happened?

IMG_0178.webp

the letsencrypt free ones are even shorter. 30 days?

certbot and deployment scripts just, sometimes don’t run or deploy and then ah fuck everything broke and you have to fix it by hand.

cloudflare lets you install a 20 year dummy certificate on your backend and then they rotate out the front end cert as needed.

there’s no reason you can’t do that as well for internal applications that talk to each other internally, then just concern yourself with keying and pushing the SSL cert people have to trust in their browser.

my daemons are all clear text because they’re a single system on the same system bus and if you’ve gotten yourself root on my server you can decrypt anything with strace anyway. Even if you load your key into memory and then remove it.

And we're back on clearnet. Just hit Ctrl + F5.
we were never gone
i'm surprised by the amount of people complaining that shit like nordvpn wouldn't let them access the website, what niggerlicious pajeetery is that? it's just an expired certificate, if your shit doesn't let you click "yes i know fuck off" you have a setup for retards

The site works when you accept the expired cert but if you don’t have the composer cached , you can’t post or reply to anything unless you come in on onion address.

Just talking out of my ass but that, and broken images referenced as https:// zone may (?) be a cross site scripting issue with the expired cert.

@unexpected onions:
>Mine just got stuck on kiwiflare after clicking that

just f5 /refresh after kiwiflare succeeds. you’d probably have the compose/reply problem too.

s0m3dood: eh he might know that but I did not know I could renew it THAT early thank you

edits: I’m as retarded as I am pedantic.

yeah. a few hours ago I tried accessing it and it wasn't working, and used brave's tor extension and it didn't work either. before i accessed the clearnet throyugh brave, i got the "this website is potentionally unsafe" message as well, but i clicked "continue anyways". it didn't do the "retarding" and just gave me the usual page this site does when its down.its 100% fine on clearnet now. i'll check to see if the tor side is working again, too

Update: tor side is working for me again, too. maybe it was just brave being stupid

Remember to CTRL+F5 if the site isn't working. It might have been fixed but your computer assumes its still broken.
Also have the onion address handy so you can switch over to the backup hidden service if the clearnet frontend dies. (Using TOR for the clearnet address is still using the clearnet frontend, though this is the recommended way to use the site).

Hey the kiwiflare thing is doing this, a lot.
Maybe 1 in 20 times works anymore.

I can’t get it to load on WiFi or vpn at all.

It works more like 8 out of 10 times when on a cellular IP.IMG_0271.jpeg

does anyone else have troubles opening their notifications, or is it just a mobile fag issue? I tap on notifications, it loads and loads, and I get an “oops!” And have to refresh but it usually works the second or third time. It has been happening for a couple weeks, but not really that big of a deal, just a bit annoying

site was down for a few try a cntrl f5
Thank you, but I’m a mobile fag so that isn’t the issue :story: it has been happening for a couple weeks now too; But again it isn’t much of a concern because it still works on second or third try, but it’s still a bit annoying and I figured I would bring it up

*edit* also based off of recent technical issues shared from other users, I’ll specify a bit further—loading KF hasn’t been an issue for me, the only thing is loading notifications, messages, or the profile tab
