Feedback Technical Grievances

I hate to bring up the animated PFP thing again, and I promise not to sperg about it, but I have been working to compress my PFPs as tight as possible - they're being accepted but not animated, Gif nor webp are moving. No rush, I just like to freshen them on the month. Thank you in advance for your attention.

Btw regarding me macking a ss13 promotion sock, it actually wouldn't let me register that was not a joke (it claimed it thought my IP was a residential proxy)

I was on proton VPN and tried a few nodes, I also got someone to try mullvad for me with same results tbh
just try again dude damn

does it work now

Can you send image/avif instead of text/plain as the Content-Type when serving AVIFs so browsers render them properly when viewed directly?

So.. Support for inserting AVIF images into posts when? Site allows them to be uploaded and left hanging as an attachment (*& then they can technically be inserted by passing the attachment link, but that's silly) but that's about it. Perhaps it's something related to the above post lol
Creating animated AVIFs out of short videos is fun and easy on file size, that personal autism is mostly why I'm asking

There are plenty of broken pfps in genchat at the moment. Not a big problem or anything, just a heads-up.

Site allows them to be uploaded and left hanging as an attachment
You used to not be able to do this, as far as I recall, which is funny, because those aforable kiwi-supporter images are .avif files.

>put the OP of the US politics thread on ignore so that cesspool stops showing up in the active section (nothin personnel kid)
>OP becomes staff
>thread becomes visible again because you can't ignore staff

I have created animated WebPs for myself and others and they worked. You can check @Otterly 's avatar which I made which is such. There was an interesting glitch, though. Animated WebP supports a long frame delay but last time I tried uploading such an image, it was auto-converted in some manner which ate the frame delay such that the animation played immediately. My intention was to make an avatar that just moved very rarely in order to produce "wait - did I just see that?" response on rare viewers. Attached is an avatar with a very long frame delay (about 10mins, iirc) which I can do without extra frames or file size. I worked to get it down very small in an attempt to avoid triggering any kind of re-encode that might be losing the frame delay. Reduced it to 384x384 pixels and 1MB, I've attached here directly. But when I made it my avatar, it animated immediately with no delay. I presume there must be some re-encoding taking place which removes it. I've not worked out anything that avoids re-encoding the image (like keeping it under a certain size or dimensions).

That said, I don't know if it's still happening as I've just tried uploading it again and there's a delay I think in uploaded avatars taking the place of the existing ones. I tried with a few of my different ones and one of them uploaded, but I'm not sure which due to the delay. They animate, though.

(Tor Browser and Tor, though unlikely to be relevant to this).

Video subtitles don't appear when in fullscreen, example video: link. Button doesn't seem to work either.
Tested on Librewolf and Chromium, Loonix.
Edit. Fuck there's a dedicated thread, I'm retarded.

GIFs support that as well and it does work on the forum as I've seen users do it before. @quaawaa had this setup with his variation of avatars and I remember someone else did something similar with an extremely long delay, then show the surprise for a few moments before returning to normal.

Iphone, safari, protonvpn.

Since yesterday, the menu in replies has been unavailable to me. This means I can't format text or embed a media file, and when I reply to a comment (either full reply or highlight & reply), what shows up in the reply box starts with [QUOTE...] rather than the usual visual quoted text. This also means that I can't quote a bunch of text then just hit return in the middle of it to reply to specific parts. Also means that I'm stuck just inserting a url instead of embedding a video (in the What are you listening to thread, for example). Default font when posting/ replying also looks different.

I'm seeing others able to do normal formatting/ embedding, so I'm trying to figure out what's going on for me. Appreciate any thoughts/info about why this would have randomly started. Did I inadvertently change some setting, or is there a KF-based reason?

Does the menu look like this with everything grey?

Click the 3 dots, then click the square brackets to turn off BBCode mode. (If there are no 3 dots, then just click the square brackets.)

Tada.

Josh really needs a "You are about to enter BBCode mode, please enter your credit card number to confirm you know what this means."

dude the issues with Froala Editor make me wonder if I should start designing the Ephyra editor now and just drop it in like with the Media pipeline.
i miss when i could open making a reply on its own dedicated page and it had like a more full editor layout, and it kept me from accidentally getting confused on what tab was my reply and which one contained the posts

Hey, hey, hey, I'd tried turning off/on/off BBCode yesterday, and it didn't resolve the behavior. But thank you!
