well i mean i like people being in chat but i have never had anyone accurately diagnose a solution for the memory leak and it seems to impact firefox worse.
 
One thing I can say is Null, I use Brave and just rtard closed a window with a post/uploaded pics and it actually tab/window restored with zero issue, then posted. good shit
 
Not sure it it's been mentioned, but when I check out the website at night from mobile (Android 12, Firefox), usually I don't get a traffic retarding check.

Then, after w few days, I'll go write an amazingly well-worded, value-adding comment (naturally), and not be able to submit it. The first few times, I would try to reload the page, which triggered the crypto check, and my comment would be lost.

Now, whenever I go to submit a comment and can't, I'll just open a KF page in a new tab to trigger the check, which then allows me to submit a comment.

Is there a way to trigger a check when I first get here to confirm that I'm a robo...er, human?
 
Is anyone else getting 153 errors in the embedded YouTube players?

yes, neal mohan hates you and wants you to be his slave. they block embeds if I strip referrer information (i.e. trannies can't see they get views from kiwifarms dot st). if you want to change it consider ******* Neal Mohan.

Easiest way would be touching the timestamp of the post you'd like to reply to. It reloads the page and takes you right back to that comment, then you should be safe(r) to type your comment and post.

Chat has these weird lines on it that weren't there before. Is this some sort of new watermark or what? Only seems to show up on the home page chat.

They also soft block VPN endpoints periodically. Swapping to another node that isn't blocked at the moment fixes 153s for me. It can take trying multiple nodes, but I will never submit to Raja Mohan.
 
The final solution to the Yewtube question is posting the video, not only the link to the page that witholds the video. Youtube video downloading is easy.
Almost every Yewtuber I have asked has said they have no problem with their videos being uploaded to other sites as a secondary provided the youtube link is more prominent, or with attribution. But many are based and say you can do whatever you want.

It's even simple on mobile. There are several yt-dlp based applications in the F-Droid store. Seal and YTDLnis are two that I have used. The Pipe apps (NewPipe/PipePipe/etc.) include download capabilities as well.

But the biggest problem with the farms from a (my) user perspective is that youtube-embeds simply don't work, i.e. are not watchable. Error code 153 or something. Something something couldn't load.

Solve that, because that's annoying as fuck from a user perspective and it happened before I had an account and it still happens now.

It's weird I've only recently seen this issue pop up as widespread as it has. It's like when you look up stuff about it online (yes search is shit) it's either bringing up reddit shit from months ago and then videos and complaints from recent. That and I've seen people complaining about it in general in the places I check online recently like here. Interesting to know it's a tracking bug thing. Hate it about as much as I hate checking youtube vids occasionally just deciding to auto-generate a playlist you can't opt out of unless you fuck with the link and remove the extra playlist thing.
Wonder if this recent spike in this bullshit has anything to do with that auto-added ai filter thing they've been putting on some videos when you watch them on youtube itself. The few places I've seen embeds still work they don't have that on them but then you go to the vid on youtube and there's like a 40% chance it's gonna be some gross shit that makes people look like they're made of wax.

Can YouTube embedded videos just be disabled entirely then? Or at least until being fixed. They just clog up threads with error messages.

Null the fat fuck (I heard you lost 70 pounds, respect if so) says user error.
Nigger, your forum is the only one it's happening to me personally.
I realize you're stressed and all and everyone wants you dead, must be stressfull.
But the fact remains: you can't get youtube-embeds to work on the farms.

Can't be fixed, since it's 1) on youtube's end and b) intended behavior. If you're hiding/spoofing referer, youtube detects it and shits out a random fucking error that basically means "oh no no no sir, we will of needing to know where you come from sir!". Could be detecting an origin/referer header mismatch? I don't know how to spoof both so they match reliably. I guess you could force every embedded video to be an invidious proxy, but that's a hassle.
 
a middleground fix would be rewriting the youtube.com url (and youtu.be) to preservetube.com however it's probably not fair to the preservetube guys. also if you'd ever need to undo it, simply rewriting it back wouldn't work because some links only exist on preservetube and not youtube.
maybe a better long term fix would be disabling the youtube embed so they're just normal links and people clickthrough to youtube.com and watch it there.
