Feedback Technical Grievances

I just did an annual upgrade, got a message I got it, but I don't have the Jewish Content rating and I don't have the gold flair. What's up?
Got the gold but the reaction is also missing for me. Sadness. That was a nice perk!

my tism is fucking going off the fucking charts right now because the copyright notice at the bottom of the page still says 2023, when we're 3 months into 2024.
I am back.

I think this just started up and I don't know if I did something weird with settings, but I can't paste text into the reply box anymore. I used to type out replies then paste them in later, now I can't. When I try to export text from writing (yes I'm still in BBCode mode, always have been), I get told "Requested clipboard format is not available". I quit and restarted both Brave and my word processors to see if it was a problem on their end, to no avail.

Could be a general clipboard issue
Tried rebooting?

This has already "fixed" itself after refreshing the page several times, but what the hell happened here? The post turned to vomit (insert USPG joke here) and then the page abruptly ended, no footer or anything.

Looks to me like there was a connection or memory issue that caused the page to be read incompletely, so the browser attempted to parse the raw HTML code as if it had been part of the conversation

Spoilers are broken on Stealth style; they appear to be open and will not close. I don't seem to have this issue on the 2025 style.

Hey @Null when a user posts a video there's no easy way to download it. The best "solution" I have found is to quote the post and then right click the [attachment] link and choose download. Anyway we can add a download button?

Works fine for me on Android. Dunno why you can't just right click the video and choose download

yes you made it very fast and distracting again after I asked you to stop and I am tired of asking you to stop being deliberately annoying. i could not read the iran thread. you ruined the thread for me so I fixed it.
Can I please politely appeal this and make a much slower animated one like the old one?
I did speed it up months ago (it was a joke) and you rightfully removed it and then I slowed it down and kept the same one for ages. I didn't change it but I can see that maybe its appearance is a bit jarring and distracting for some people. Can I not just have a slow one that I originally had ages ago? The still one makes it look miserable whereas I was going for the more unhinged/confused look with the eyebrows.

I keep getting told my avatar is complained about but I've not seen anyone first hand complain about it (perhaps except for when it was super sped up as a joke ages ago). If its such an issue you could just ask me to change it - which you haven't AFAIK, you've just said people don't like it. It's been the same for literally like an entire year and I post regularly enough that it is very widely seen. It has been on the front page, it has been on your streams, it has been on other people's streams.

Outside of that, there is a technical issue in that when a mod deletes a post or does something there is no way for a user to see who did it or reply to it. In that thread I was posting messages from firstsquawk and apparently a mod took extreme issue with it and didn't like it. I'm not sure why that would be the case given the point of the thread (that is also emphasized in the title) is to share and discuss actual news updates.

Firstsquawk is a pretty widely known source. The point of it isn't that it is correct but rather that it is first, it pumps out news headlines from various sources and is something that people in trading follow closely. It's widely used, very convenient and generally gets news almost instantaneously that are quotes from reputable sources. I don't think its perfect by any means but its generally very reliable and I'm not sure why anyone would take issue with it.

It would be great if there were a way to reply to mod actions so they can be discussed in the context/situation that they happen. I had to go through 8 pages to find the notice that was deleting my posts shortly before my avatar got changed to be static.

I'm not sure what the logic is in trying to dictate which sources are used when there are enough shizo people posting weird shit to sink 3 noah's arks. There's so much AI shit to begin with and out of all of that noise + the autism of the xitty, Firstsquawk may not be perfect but it definitely serves a purpose and isn't in the habit of blasting blatantly false news out in the world.

I'm a divisive poster, I can get that but does anyone really think I'd be putting up blatantly fake shit or that I don't understand where to source information from? I'm the person who found out Liz Fong Jones worked with ICE many years ago - I have time and time again done insurmountable amounts of research and surfaced novel and interesting information - why the fuck would I be posting fake news in a thread about a war or out of all the people that post here be challenged about what sources I use?
In any case, the current mod action notification shown above does a poor job at the best of times. I think it would be preferable for the user to be able to see their deleted post with the deleted/mod reason on it, or perhaps have it open a DM or something (optionally).

If you want to have effective moderation, I think the communication about it needs to be improved. If I'm posting regularly I'll get hundreds of notifications per day and there's not even any guarantee I would see that deletion notice. I'm not even sure what the logic is in trying to outlaw specific sources from users who have been around for fucking ages and post high quality shit all the time - I haven't changed my avatar for literally a year and it has been everywhere so I don't even understand the logic in removing it.

And in place of people like me posting updates from pretty well known sources like firstsquawk, this is what the thread is like now:
