It seems one can no longer connect to KF (.st, .jp) via clearnet (residential network; got no mobile connection to test this with) from Moscow. Roskomnadzor has been ramping up blocking of various services since 2022, so maybe it's just time.

Firefox / Falkon: domains time out

Looks like the domain itself is not blocked, but CDN is. They've been fucking with CDNs for quite some time lately.

Isn't TTD (Total Tunneling Death) for mobile traffic only? That's what I've heard anyway. Regardless, Amnezia seems to work fine so far, as well as Tailscale and ZeroTier - i'm using them right now, they work perfectly fine. And, when all else fails, give Zapret2 a spin - no tunneling there.

I have discovered what I think is the source of a very painful and intermittent bug where pages would pretend to load forever before failing. If you experience this issue let me know.

It goes like this: You are browsing the site, everything's great, you click a link. Then you wait. And you wait. Nothing happens. The page doesn't change at all, it doesn't start loading and break, it just never moves off that page. You close the tab, you reopen it, doesn't fix it. After about a minute it starts working again like nothing happened.
I occasionally get that issue, however it's resolved by switching to a different VPN server, which is why I didn't report it before. I assume that's a completely different issue, but the symptoms are identical so IDK, reporting as ordered.

The VPN switch always worked for me, and I had assumed it was my VPN for that reason. The actual issue is networking level with specific servers and IPv6, which is why the switch fixes it.

webp fallback for avif provided
Thank you Null, very cool!
In Firefox, current Nightly build, I clicked on AMHOLIO's pfp and got this:

Google Chrome had no such issues. After downloading the pfp, I opened it in IrfanView, and got a message that it is a JPEG file with incorrect extension. That must be why FF gets confused.

Perhaps the forum software can be changed in such a way it will rename files according to their actual format/header contents instead of whatever the uploader puts as extension?
It's the AVIF pic - looks like all the new avatars get automatically converted to AVIF server-side. It's just that their Content-Type is set as text/plain when they get delivered.

Yep, that's most likely what causes the issue. Just opening the picture in a new tab, then trying to save that "page" results in the file save dialog treating it as a text file—because of the Content-Type definition.

Sorry I tried to add an example link there but it looks like it truncated automatically.

After navigating a bit more I think it is page, not thread, specific. For this thread, I can visit page 675 no issue. If I go to 676 I get the error. Similar deal with the Community Happenings thread - some pages load okay, some don’t.
I am also having the same issue exclusively on mobile while browsing unregistered. For me, I have issues with the latest page of community happenings, page 11,712 of the rekeita thread, and page 2,691 of the bossmanjack thread. It works on desktop but not on safari. I have tried a bunch of other threads on mobile and they load perfectly fine, no issues.

Ok it just happened to me when refreshing this page and this page, while other pages (front page and this) refreshed just fine. I haven't cycled my VPN yet.

Consideing the current os is 26.2.4 i’d say the iphone x is considered obselete by apple since it cant support above 16.
The iPhone X was released in 2017. I recently upgraded from an iPhone SE 3 (2022) and it was starting to struggle with the farms at times, and it had a much newer SoC than the iPhone X. Time for an upgrade, sad but true.

I am nearly certain the issue is memory so if you have a fancy iPhone 15 with expanded memory that may be why.
IPhone 7 with a glorious 2Gb here.

Edit: Just as a data point, Page 1 of Nick Rekieta’s main thread has always been a problem on this phone. Loading bar gets to about 90% and stops. Usually it’ll do a DOM reset and re-render, getting stuck again and just never finishing the load. That’s the only page I can recall that’s been a problem tho.

I occasionally get that issue,
Adding in my +1 that the few times I had the website seemingly stop responding despite me clicking and new tab clicking and after making sure an "asdfasdf" google search worked to rule out my own connection I'd VPN switch and it'd usually fix itself so I never gave it much thought.

are you saying this happened after this post this morning?

Yes, it happened after your post, and 1 minute before my 2nd post saying it happened again. I briefly thought you were trolling me when I refreshed this page and it immediately hanged, but then the second page hanged as well.

Hasn't happened since then, and I've been refreshing multiple threads throughout the day. Other than that one time, and other than the media gallery announcement dying, site's been working great for me.

No, just confirming that I recall similar circumstances occurring in the past (when I would catch up on busy threads with a lot of quick cycling through pages after big news hit on a mobile browser hence me assuming it was just networking issues or DDOS protections on the server). It actually hasn't happened in weeks for me as far as I can recall.

it's been happening to me since Tuesday, both on PC and mobile using brave. happened while using chrome and firefox on PC as well.

the only consistent thing that works is using my mobile network, not wifi.

determined it's not an internet, dns, or cache issue, and it does not appear to be my isp throttling the connection, either.

as of this second, I'm posting on my phone using wifi, because at this moment it's stable. meanwhile it's still unstable on pc as of this post.
