Videos too. I'm getting constant lag-out even on very small, short ones. Vids will drop video frames but not audio for about 2 seconds, then freeze fully, go into the 'buffering' animation (spinning circle)for a few seconds, resume, go for another 10 seconds or so and repeat.

Videos play for me just fine but I cannot download them. The download icon just doesn't do anything, usually it opens into a new URL with just the video to download it directly.

Same, only way to download them is through the new media page, copy direct media URL and picture-in-picture don't work either.

are you using browsers that block absolutely all clipboard and new tab requests? wtf? how do you people even use the fucking internet beyond this site?

been using it for a year and video downloads didn't work
im not sure what you did to utterly break them when it worked fine before
 
Nah, just went to check on Brave and copy direct media URL doesn't seem to be working. Doesn't work on chrome either. Testing this using the video in this post, but I think something is legit broken with the feature itself. Neither of those browsers automatically block clipboard and new tab stuff, and I don't get any sort of approval pop up on either one.
 
Same problem with videos here, on firefox. Since at least yesterday. None of the right-click options work at all.

I don't know if it's related but previously I was able to search by image for any of the big search engines by providing them with a direct kiwifarms link to the image. This no longer works, the search sites (yandex, bing, google) all give back errors.

Firefox and Brave. Is there a magical browser where the feature actually works?

also to note, it worked just fine the day before I posted about it not working.
 
Okay, can confirm there's been a regression. In the future it is enormously helpful to indicate if something has always been a problem or if you only noticed it in the last 12 hours. It's also generally useful to include information such as: browser, operating system, mobile/pc, etc. If you just say "doesn't work" I don't know what the fucking problem is, who it affects, or how long it has been a problem. It's page 681 and I explain this at least once a page every day of my fucking life.

While you’re here, downloading on iOS never worked. On desktop you can right click for the download icon, and on Android you can long press to get the right click options. But on iOS doing a long press either highlights texts in video or just gives a magnifying glass effect.

I think this is just an iOS specific issue, I'm not sure I've seen any video that let me actually save it in browser. Best case it opens in a new tab but Safari doesn't want to let you save the video. Haven't tried on Chrome or Firefox for iOS but I doubt they work differently, web browsing on iOS means using Safari calls with a different coat of paint no matter the browser.

"Download video" is a very hard thing to get right because videos are user-generated content (untrusted) and we sandbox UGC on the `uploads.kiwifarms.st` subdomain because that subdomain has strict rules to never do certain things, or be interacted with in certain ways, to protect users in the event malware gets uploaded to that directory. The download feature is directly at odds with the security.
