Feedback Technical Grievances

Are video uploads failing for anybody else? It uploads ok, or so it says, but then it just sits there "loading" forever (I left it for 20 minutes) and appears to be an invalid/missing file after the fact.

EDIT: I figured this out not long after but didn't update this. If you upload a video, it will NOT work on the preview. It'll just show as a black screen. If you go ahead and post it though, then it will actually play correctly. Pls fx.

It looks like once again ProtonVPN is fucking over the primary .net address.

That would kind of defeat the whole point of using a VPN in the first place. I also don't think the client actually lets you. My guess is the new edition reintroduced this crap they got rid of last time, and that it is once again blocking crypto pools and crypto-related sites because they are using a blocklist run by absolute incompetents who can't tell anything crypto-related from malware. So I trust the usual crypto people are going to throw a complete shit fit about these blocks being back and don't really want to let them know the Farms exist.

I'm probably switching to Mullvad soon. Tbh Proton has worked pretty well, almost as well as PIA (before they went rogue). Okay, the latest version update turned "Netshield" back on, which results in DNS not resolving "malware" sites, including crypto sites (and we were probably caught in that one because of the entirely voluntary crypto miner years ago). Just turning that off causes it to resolve again. It's annoying as fuck when software updates override the settings you chose, but whatever.

Edit: works on firefox macOS. weird.

A little off topic, but what happened with PIA? I'm coming up on my 3yr renewal this year and if they're doing shitty shit I'll look elsewhere. I only really use it for my jumpbox (whose IPs are not tied to me) and for feeding my torrent traffic through.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but it appears that watched threads with new posts are no longer being highlighted with a brighter font color...
They are at the top, but you can't see if they've been updated since your last visit without keeping mental track of the date and time....
Do I need to change a setting somewhere?

It's a known issue with the new theme. If you look very closely, there's a circle to the left of the thread title which is filled in for threads with new posts and hollow otherwise. It's not nearly as easy to see as the bolded titles from before but you can use that to see which threads have new posts in the meantime.

Problem with DMs - when I click on "post reply", nothing gets posted at first glance and the field still has text, when in reality the message is posted, I just need to refresh the page to make it appear and delete draft.
