I think he's starting to slip. I've been liking his incredibly autistic videos but he's been slowly interjecting political sperging in some videos
 
I've enjoyed this guy off and on for a couple years now. He has some very autistic qualities and he could spiral into being a cow at some point but he isn't really there. Iirc Null thought he might troon out because he had long hair for a little while during Covid but he didn't.

His most recent video seems to just be a screed about Green Energy which is unfortunate. Most of the time he is very informative but he has been taken in by a desire to advocate for stuff rather than to inform people. He even says in the beginning of this video that he isn't trying to sell anyone anything but he is literally trying to persuade his audience of something.

This video of his is what brought me into his channel and it was extremely informative and I enjoyed it and I miss when his content was just like this and he didn't feel the need to take some kind of side on some kind of issue.


Some of it was always way too autistic and even boring for me but some it was really good and valuable.

He has been doing it for a while honestly.
 
He should stick to demonstrative histories of technology like his good videos. Extremely biased takes about how batteries and solar are completely the future and also inherently left wing somehow unlike yucky gasoline like all those evil fascist republicans want, while also stating he refuses to install solar on his roof because there's already solar farms in his area as if that somehow matters. Not his strongsuit. He didn't even mention that gasoline is roughly 50 times more energy-dense than lithium ion batteries by weight and roughly 100 times more dense by volume. Granted, electric motors are more efficient than combustion. But this goes deeper than just cars. But solar and batteries are recyclable so we can totes switch over guys. He also makes a ludicrous argument that lithium only ever needs to be mined once then once we have recycling infrastrcuture we never need lithium again and can close most of the mining operations down to just maintain what might be lost from recycling. Without remembering that humans breed and make more humans, creating more demand for infrastructure. Woopsie-doodles.

Here's his most recent video where he spergs out on progressive politics for the last 15 minutes of his video.

I've seen his stuff before and I find it really interesting, I just can't take him seriously when he hits all of the progressive talking points of "Orange Man is FASCISM PERSONIFIED!!!!" Just leave the politics out of it dude, focus on the tech. I generally agree with the video's main message even, that renewable energy is a good thing we need to be investing in.

Edit: I'm super late to this as I got sucked into watching him sperg out while making this post. But yeah, very disappointing coming from a creator I once, and even now want to respect.

The video made me lose whatever little respect I had for him. He display a childs understanding of the challenges of renewable energy.
 
I stopped watching him after he got more and more political years ago before he really blew up. Also the dude doesn't understand the concept of surface area. He once made several videos and went on a rant on how a $15 tiny 1500watt space heater will heat up a room just as well as a more expensive 1500watt one that is way, way, way bigger. He also asked why people buy cold air intakes for cars since they already take in cold air. Surface area and volume of air are foreign concepts to him.

He can be funny as fuck when not scripted, though. He tagged along with Aging Wheel's latest shenanigans. So many bad puns between the two of them.

This is the same guy who purchased an enormous humidifier that specifically revolves around having a giant wicking medium the size of a furnace air filter for his home. No but resistive heaters are 100% efficient. So 1500 watts in, 1500 watts of heat must just pour right out of it! Why do heatsinks have fins again?

Yeah pretty much this. It's an ancient couple(honestly can't remember the exact number) of videos and I'm about to go to bed but if you want a good laugh look them up.

I can honestly say that my nice large quartz heater from Sam's does a much better job at heating up this room than the $15 Sunbeam from walmart that's just a screaming fan shoving air over hot coils that I've had forever. Both do 1500/750.
 
In addition to his lack of understanding of surface area noted by @Mr.Bucket, I've noticed when he says "[Cheap, lower power, or objectively worse thing] is just as good as [better thing]", he's often right if you qualify with "for a single man". I still wouldn't totally rule out him going trans.
 
Glad he has a thread, but I think he's a legit lolcow in ways. That last sperging over abolishing ICE really was insane. I can't stand how he edits his videos either, especially when he stares into the camera after a lot of lines for about a second before cutting. He looks so weird doing that.

I sometimes like his niche tech takes, but I knew he was a fool when he went on about how it's better to pay $50k or something to get a heat pump and ultra insulate your place to save $1k a year at most on utilities. He's just a eco-nerd rich kid mostly and it's getting worse.
