That Metal Thread

At least the fest organizer publicly blasted the Pig's Blood guy for being a faggot.

Of the Big Four, what's your order of preference?

Me: Slayer > Metallica > Megadeth > Anthrax
Testament -> Megadeth -> Slayer -> Metallica -> Anthrax

I do enjoy most of the stuff from Testament, some LPs from Megadeth, apart from Reign in Blood I really haven't listened to anything else from Slayer and I couldn't give a shit about either Metallica or Anthrax.

Metallica (it's a real shame they broke up in '88 and never made any more albums after Justice) >
Slayer (when they are peak, they are peak, but they have a lot of filler on most albums) >
Megadeth (Mustaine is kind of tiresome as a singer) >
Anthrax (I just never got that into them, however I have to give them props for being one of the godfathers of rap-metal)

In other news, I saw Castle Rat at a club in New Orleans and what a great freaking show. Ruined by the audience being a bunch of sweaty stinky nerds (I mean I expected it, but it's still annoying), but god damn, the videos and album just don't do it justice. The drummer is a fucking beast and she is a terrifically dedicated frontwoman. Really didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

Felt the same way when I saw the Deftones last year - not really into their music (hell I didn't even know they were still active), but the singer just had so much energy and the band was super-competent so it just was a really enjoyable show despite not really being a fan.

Slayer was the only band from the Big Four I really got into. From there I discovered Sodom, Possessed, Bathory and similar other groups and as a result the other three BF bands sounded just too tame for me once I tried listening to them more extensively. But I do like Ride the Lightning by Metallica. It's their best work, in my opinion.

Shout-out to the one guy in the universe who doesn't put Anthrax last
I just can’t stand Dave Mustaine and the Megadeths. Anthrax is fun, I think it would be awesome to see them live. I bet they put on a good show

Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica. I think I haven't listened to a Metallica album in half a decade actually... Going by how much I actually listen to them, maybe it would be more accurate to say: Megadeth, Testament, Slayer, Anthrax.

Anthrax>Slayer>Megadeth>Metallica don't get me wrong, I love Metallica they're just so overplayed and don't quite hit the highs of the other three.

Anthrax is really underrated, they've been consistently good through pretty much every album they released.. I even love the John Bush era of Anthrax, which gets overlooked and was a bit more experimental.

Slayer's Reign in Blood might be the best thrash metal album of all time front to back, and Megadeth's Tornado of Souls (with the original guitar tracks) is probably my favorite metal song of all time. The Big Four really are something else.

Overkill clears all but I lean Megadeth>Slayer>Metallica>Anthrax

I have an extra ticket that I’m trying to sell (well really, my buddy is trying to sell it but it’s on my Ticketmaster account) for Alice Cooper/Judas Priest in Franklin, TN on this upcoming Tuesday. They’re pretty good seats, about 10 rows from the stage IIRC. We were going to go the Sunday before last but it got postponed and rescheduled to this Tuesday. He’s asking around 85 but at this point I think he’s just trying to get something back for it.

Slayer > Metallica > Megadeth > Anthrax

Slayer is the most consistent. I like all of their albums, even the more controversial ones (Diabolus, Undisputed Attitude).

Old Metallica up to and including AJFA is great and still holds up. Lots of catchy songs. I hated Load and Reload when they came out, but I found some appreciation for them recently. I only listened to St. Anger once (it's atrocious) and haven't listened to any of the last three albums.

I stopped caring about Megadeth after Youthanasia. Friedman is a fantastic soloist. I'm more of a death metal/grindcore kinda guy, so all those old thrash bands are a bit too "light" for me. I need my chugga-chugga and blasts.

The only Anthrax album I listened to more than once was Stomp 442. I never liked Bush or Belladonna, I think they may be the main reason why I could never get into that band.

Honorable mention: Testament. Some of their old songs are borderline DM. I like The Gathering and Demonic a lot. Saw them twice and both times sucked. I think I was just unlucky because they were clearly WAY too loud.

I can't really call myself proper metalhead because out of those big 4 thrash, the only band I extensively listened to was Megadeth. I liked Slayer's sinister intro riffs in lot of their songs but random notes noodling solos ruined my enjoyment of the songs. I liked a lot of older Metallica songs in pre-justice for all era but still I don't like them all that much. And I only listened probably one Anthrax song and that was it. I'm more into Swedish death metal.
