Ran into some future music while on an 80s kick.

Almost fully-formed USPM in 1979, four years before Crystal Logic, and what seems like a Cirith Ungol/Pagan Altar soundalike from 1975.

Legend is great! If you want some more from them I'd recommend the title track off this album:
They also reissued the album a few years back and even released their '78 demo:
And here's RFI's video on them just to round this out:

New song from Curta'n Wall. As always it's a weird one:

I sort of lost track of Behemoth after the excellent "The Satanist" so I wasn't too sure what kind of direction they went. Seems they stuck with Black Metal and dint pivot into (Tech) Death Metal again. Which is fine. After the first listen, I would say it's a good LP.

Forgot how much this album destroys. Whole thing sounds like a barrage of machine gun fire and artillery strikes.

Jo Bench goes off on that album. Martin Kearns for me was always the best BT drummer (RIP). The drums on those first couple albums they did sounds a little too sloppy. Through the Eye of Terror though is probably a top 25 metal track.

After Carolus Rex, 10/10 album, and basically most of the band leaving, Sabaton never were able to even come close to their earlier outputs. Decent songs here and there, but overall the albums were pretty mediocre in general. Legends for me sounds like the bad parody of the band's worst trademarks. "Charge, March" and half of the songs have the same rhythm. Nothing exiting is happening. I don't know how you can write a song about Lü Bu and make it a snooze fest. This album sucks.

Never was a big Sabaton guy honestly, I had some people on another forum send me their “best songs” maybe 12 or 13 years ago. I think I like my power metal slightly less (or maybe more?) self aware. If the power metal I’m listening to sounds similar to at least Walls of Jericho I usually like it.

Also, Destruction and Vulture were dropped from Hells Heroes for next year. Major bummer for me. I was pretty stoked for the first wave of bands announced. I actually liked it so much that I bought my tickets that weekend. When the full lineup was revealed, there wasn’t much of anything that topped the first wave of bands. I was slightly disappointed but still excited. Hard to be down when you’re spending a week off work listening to live heavy metal and drinking beer.

Aura Noir was one of the replacements. I’m not the absolute biggest black metal guy but from what I’ve heard they seem good.

Cyber metal/industrial metal band Sybreed has just released an EP today, featuring some bonus songs and deep cuts:

• Technocracy and Plasmaterial are bonus tracks from the "Antares" album (2007).
• Flesh Doll For Sale is a bonus track from "The Pulse of Awakening" (2009).
• Hardboiled Venus is a demo recorded during the pre-production sessions for "God Is An Automaton". The same sessions also produced *Challenger*, later released on the *"Challenger EP"*.
• Doomsday Party (Drop vs. Piano Remix) features Tomáš Kebert on piano. Drop created this remix in 2010 after discovering Tomáš’s piano cover on YouTube.

drunk weird norwgegian metal and metal side-project post:

Fenriz had a doomy clear-vocals project, its cool for doom/sludge/stoner

Fenriz had ambient project, very cool stuff if you like ambient:

which makes me think of mortiis, true father chad of dungeon synth:

bonus unknown norwegian folk rock (for fans of viking metal, early Ulver, and shit):

obscure norwegian real black metal, severly underheard by foreigners:

semi-unheard norwegian pagan metal

absolutely insane underheard Danish DSBM(or maybe proto-DSBM)

Found an ancient binder of cds from when I was in middle school. Among the dozen or so Sonata Arctica and Finntroll albums was a burned disc labeled "nightfist" that I have zero recollection of making or ever listening to. Looked it up and it kind of slaps.

Depressive socialist black metal?
I see NSBM much more often, so my brain always automatically reads it this way.

Now that's a name I was never expecting to see again. I used to listen to Sybreed quite a bit in my Meshuggah fueled proto-djent youth. Hell I'll still stand by Antares.

I need your favorite songs about eating people

I drag her with a bag on her head
Into the room where I rape the dead
Dead bodies is lying in a row on my bench
She’s gasping for air, but she can’t take the stench

Violently severe tying her hands
With rubber, handcluffs, leather and chains
I’m brutally whipping her bleeding face
Til she’s screaming and twisting in pain

Cutting and sliceing through her nipples
Trembling but slowly with a razorblade
This is the first act of a sado-incision
I’m the master of this sadistic game

Disgusting sex a sight so macabre
Armed with a split and some rubber gloves
I drill her up from my sick analterror
Her cunt is soon to be stained in blood

Cutting and sliceing through her nipples
Trembling but slowly with a razorblade
This is the first act of a sado-incision
I’m the master of this sadistic game

Swallow my pride
Taste the whip
Brutally crucified
Her ovaries I rip

Swallow my pride
Taste the whip
Brutally crucified
Her ovaries I rip

Her swollen genitals has now been removed
And her bleeding anus is covered with seed
Soon I’ll grind her and use her for food
But I’ll let her suffer, I can still see her breathe

Her swollen genitals has now been removed
And her bleeding anus is covered with seed
Soon I’ll grind her and use her for food
But I’ll let her suffer, I can still see her breathe

Inside the mausoleum a sour body
Assembled is the coven for gluttony
Opening the casket, disgusting horrid sight
Feast can now begin, necrovorous rite

Ripped up gutter, a stench most foul
Morbid pleasure, the disembowel
Tapping the black blood, drinking iron wine
Dead you fill your purpose, human swine

Devouring the innards
Feast on rotting sore
Stinking corpse for eating
Feeding on the gore

The grizzly ritual will now proceed
Body dismembered, through cannibal greed
Bloody limbs are scattered, a smelly pile
Dead one torn asunder, an act most vile

Devouring the innards
Feast on rotting sore
Stinking corpse for eating
Feeding on the gore

Eating from a coffin
Eating from a grave
Eating from a coffin
Eating from a grave

Rancid decay, pouring out from the sockets
Fancied dismay, sticky fingers into rear pockets

Molestation frenzy, excreeting the skeletal remains
Rabid faces eerie, smeared in clotted moshed brains

Coffin stained with dirt, stinking gory soil
Chewed off stumps into the cauldron for the boil
Fed are now the ghouls and the crones
Consumed is the corpse, burnt are the bones

Devouring the innars
Feast on rotting sore
Stinking corpse for eating
Feeding on the gore

Eating from a coffin
Eating from a grave
Eating from a coffin
Eating from a grave
