Got some cool old shit? Whether it’s a family heirloom, something you bought or found in a dumpster, even if you’re just s filthy hoarder who stores all their piss in mason jars and want to tell the board about your collection of 1970s mail order underwear catalogues, let’s hear about your antique and vintage stuff. I will give you my expert opinion.

Barely anyone even cares about antiques anymore. As the boomers age out and start downsizing from houses and into facilities there's going to be a hell of a lot of disappointing antiques appraisal going on.

Old solid cherry furniture, ages old cuckoo clocks, trains sets and tabletop pinball machines from when your grandparents were kids, golfing equipment, coin collections...you're lucky if you don't have to just throw it away to get rid of it.

But of course that set of pokemon cards you used to have that your family got rid of when you were like 13? The one with the holographic charizard in it? Worth more than all the above combined. Screw the modern goods market.

last time I watched an episode of Antiques Roadshow, I shit you not, there was someone with a binder containing a full set of alpha Magic the Gathering cards and it was appraised for like legitimately over half a million

I bought Pokémon cards back in ‘98-‘99 when I was an adolescent with money and few financial responsibilities. Thankfully I stored them well and they’re barely used. There’s maybe about 300 altogether, mostly blind bag cards, including a holo Charizard. I’ve got them stashed in a safe now. I had no idea back in the day that decades later they’d be a nice nest-egg.

Fuck yeah, I love antiques and cool old stuff. If I wasn't so limited on space I'd love to have more Royal Halsey teacups, I own the one in this pic but broke it like a dumbass (:_(

I want to collect things that are functional and that I'm actually going to use, rather than just sit there and collect dust.

One of the coolest antiques I have is this antique Singer sewing machine
Wish we had more space in the house for this, so it's in the garage right now. The actual machine is folded into the cabinet for easy storage.

Machine when popped out, it needs a lot of TLC before we can get it working again. I'd love to actually use it for something.

We found lots of neat things in the drawers including the instruction manual from 1924-

-and a lot of old needles and thread which I actually have used to repair things recently. I figure once they're that old they're probably magic.
