While there is a general thread for Anime/Manga, there is not one discussing specifically the absolute best the Japanese Anime industry has given us over the years. There are quite a lot of worthless heaps of anime you will never bother to remember because they just weren't interesting. This has what I would assume lead to at least some anime to have simply been ignored or forgotten. I've watched a lot of anime over the years, but I feel like there are far more hidden gems I've yet to see.

Without further ado, I'll list my absolute favorites that would come as highly recommended to anyone that enjoys watching anime.

1. Steins; Gate.
2. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
3. Fooly Cooly.
4. Puella Magia Madoka Magica.
5. Gurren Lagann.
6. Cowboy Bebop.
7. B.E.C.K.
8. Serial Experiments Lain.
9. Code Geass.
10. Ergo Proxy.
11. Kids on the Slope.
12. Bokurano.
13. Beserk.
14. Paranoia Agent.
15. Samurai Champloo.

I really don't see why you can't name your favorites in the general thread.
The reason for me making this thread is because I'd like to see what everybody's favorites are. Keeping it separate from the other thread is for better readability for people to more easily find interesting anime they haven't watched. Hidden gems as well.

Seconding Chargeman Ken. When I went to Japland last year my friend bought a Ken figure for an obscene amount of money.

Aside from this I don't see why another thread is needed for people to makes lists of the anime they like best.

We need to share great Japanese animations

Evangelion:

Berserk's my favourite medieval fantasy, but I fear that I (or Miura) will be dead before it gets finished. Idolmaster's too strong a temptation for him...

I've always enjoyed Fullmetal Alchemist, whether it be the manga, the original anime, or Brotherhood.

I've also enjoyed some slice of life anime like Azumanga Daioh, Watamote, and Nichijou.
