Beautiful photograph of a majestic American Man comforting an eagle

I've spent a bit of time recently watching gannets diving. I noticed when the weather/sea is rough they'll circle or bank then fold their wings at the last minute rather than dropping from high up. Maybe for control and/or visibility? Not sure, I'm not a gannet expert but I love them, they're beautiful birds.

Other birds I've spotted that I don't see every day: golden eagles, white-tailed eagles, pipits (I can't tell the species apart but they're very endearing), whinchats, ravens (caw caw), merlins.

I love birds so much you guys

Saw a steller’s jay in the woods, I’d never seen one of these before. Didn’t get a good pic so google to the rescue

OH SHIT THAT REMINDS ME I saw some Stellar's jays on a camping trip. I did take some photos. Some photos are better than others.

And you know what? I'm feeling like posting birbs so I'll post an assorted arrangement of random bird photos I've taken. I love all types of birds.

Alas, Joshua the Janitor has not fixed his website, and only one of the four bird photos I was going to post actually load up and display. To make the best of a bad situation, I still am happy to present to you: The Scaly-breasted Lorikeet! While he may not be as visually stunning as his rainbow cousins, he is just as loud and obnoxious when he screams his head off.

Did a nighttime nature walk today. Always fun to hear the barred owls courting each other off in the night. Their hoots are... beyond strange.

Not my recording, but exactly what we were listening to out there.
I love owl calls. There’s one that sounds like a horse whinnying (screech owl?)

Another bird note- I think the hummingbirds have left for the year. I only saw one at my feeder all day yesterday and none today. I’ll miss them. Now looking forward to the return of the woodpeckers, flickers and later, the bluebirds. Still have Cardinals, chickadees and the occasional nuthatch every day. The cardinals are such moochers, they’re here all day everyday, all year round.
