I don't care how much I'm required to hate the globohomo this is cute af

also I saw a sandhill crane crossing the street today at a crosswalk with the light
didn't get a chance to take a picture but he headed out specifically along the crosswalk while the cars were stopped

We have a pack of geese every spring that understands that (a) cars slow down at the roundabout heading out of our neighborhood, and (b) it's illegal to intentionally hit a goose. They take full advantage of that shit to block traffic for up to 10 minutes at a time and wander across the street lol

Maybe when they're doing it again next year I'll manage to break out the potato phone and snag a picture.

We had a grackle that was happily making our yard his territory. We were plying him with peanuts and small treats. He was reaching the point that he'd sit on one of the crepe myrtles not 15 feet away from us and wait for us to put his treat into its designated spot, making pleased and happy chirps when we'd arrive.

Then the squirrels came, raided his snacks and chased him off.

Fuck squirrels.

Seems I finally befriended a crow. There's a crow in my yard that is always cawwing in a tree when I'm outside. The crow also likes shit talking my dog. The crow's name is Edgar.
My neighbour has two crows that sit on window sill each day, waiting for food. I'm extremely jealous. I found a fledgling once.
Have tried feeding the ones in the park often wanting to make friends. They're so clever - I toss them food while watching from a distance, and I'll catch one of them dutifully keeping an eye on me in return while the rest carefully grab food.

I don't feed the crows, not intentionally anyway. This one just seems to like cawwing at me and my dog. Even cawwed in response to getting named. Probably associates me with food because I always have a treat bag with me.
