The crows enjoyed some people watching of us slipping a track on the mini excavator, tearing it trying to get it back on, and then trying to gimp walk it back up a wooded hill with one track. Started with one crow watching us from a tree and it was up to four by the time we got the damned thing back on open and level ground. Those lucky bastards don't have to pay taxes and get free entertainment.

Happy 100 pages! 🕊️

Know how roadrunners have the crest of feathers on their heads? A roadrunner can make those feathers go up and down at will. And they also have at least some limited flight.

First day of Spring (yesterday) I sighted a hawk building a nest high in the main crotch of a tall tree near the front of my house. Been watching it bring 1-2' branches/twigs to the nest. They usually nest deeper in the woods behind my house, so this is a treat - the view from my front lawn is unobstructed. Need to grab my binocs to see what kind of hawk.

Otherwise hearing tons of birdsong and seeing lots of mammas hopping around.
Follow-up - saw both mom hawk & dad hawk this morning together on branches in a tree near where the nest is. They've been busy building for days now. :feels:

Sorry, very AI.

Owner of birb. They would never jab a bird that's not being actively restrained because birbs will freak the fuck out, and claws and beak can and will hurt. A lot.

My birb's enough of a shitass that if he needs anything done, he gets completely wrapped in towels and restrained by the tech /and/ myself while the vet does her work.

The Big Bear Valley bald eagle pair’s eaglets have hatched!

nest cam:

They’re feeding the eaglets tiny little bits of fish.

they’re so gentle with the tiny eaglets ❤️

dove update:

Dove still there, but there's been at least a couple of nights where that nest was abandoned for several hours. Hopefully eggs are OK.
