It should be done in the style of F4 rather than Starfield because, bafflingly, it was somehow worse in Starfield

I think a major reason for that is despite having just as much junk lying about to collect, Starfield's was worthless. At least in Fallout you could break stuff down into components to craft stuff with. Starfield's issue is that collecting all the resources to get even a usable base as a jumping off point is a real pain in the ass.

Yeah you also had to invest in a ton of skills to make building even slightly viable. Even then most of the build menu "pieces" are pre-made pod structures rather than a collection of walls, floors, roofs etc. like in F4 so you couldn't actually build anything unique or interesting, defeating the entire point of a custom base building system.

Honestly I wouldn't mind Fallout 4's base building as long has it was heavily contained. The base building was a fun time killer but the problem is that F4 treated it as a core pillar rather than a fun side activity. If you had like three Hearthfire-esque plots of land and/or a small village à la Helgen, where you could build up your own home/base, I don't think it would be a problem barring three points:
A) It shouldn't consume significant development time/resources and should be the first thing cut or pushed to be post-release if it is doing so.
B) It should be done in the style of F4 rather than Starfield because, bafflingly, it was somehow worse in Starfield despite it being a core part of the intended crafting loop and having several skills linked to it.
C) No major questlines should interact with it, at all. The Mages Guild should not say "well all you need to do now to advance is build a mage tower and place the Deadric McGuffin in a 8x8 room with a-". It should be it's own island of content with a minimum number of quests about the building and only about the building and should not infect the rest of the game.
I don't think this is a very popular take but I really want a mechanic where you can build up/customize a castle and play some light management game with it. Something like the stronghold system from BG2. I'd much prefer one customizable plot with some more polish compared to what Fallout 4 tried to do.

Being able to make a mercenary guild or something of the sort based in your keep would be really neat. Making your own guild feels like a huge gap in the whole "do whatever you want in a fantasy world" thing the elder scrolls has been trying to go towards since Skyrim. Though I do agree that I'd much rather have more actual, in depth quests than this so it should definitely be the first thing cut.

I suscribe to the conspiracy theory that Emil made starfield base building bad on purpose because he is still salty that people would rather do bases and paper airplanes in FO4 than enjoy his shitty american novel.
>complains that players will just ignore and bulldoze through the story even if it's great
>makes shit stories so it doesn't matter if the players fuck around
>makes every character involved in said shit story unkillable, no matter how minor
>New Vegas and Morrowind have good stories
>you can kill every NPC
>???????

Emil has to be high key seething a lot. I would not be surprised to find TES6 full of spiteful design decisions a la removing spellcrafting in Skyrim because players broke balance with it in Oblivion.

His one good work, Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood, was for the series he doesn't give a fuck about.

He wants to be known as "The Fallout Guy" but everyone invested in Fallout ignores the two games he wrote and focus on 1/2/NV and even the shitty show.

Design director of Starfield, universally panned as a shit game. Many of his retarded comments are used against him and more people become aware of his effect on the games.

Now worst of all Fallout 5 is handed off to Obsidian. That's got to cause some psychic damage to Emil.

If they actually made a Starfield 2, maybe that could’ve been the Emil Containment Game/Franchise where he just made the shittiest most boring stuff imaginable in his own little sandbox so the franchises people actually like would be safe from his writing. Sadly though that’s not happening and it remains to be seen how he’ll spitefully ruin TES6.

Something I would like to see in TES 6 is a different take on the Daedric princes than the usual. It would be nice to see the aspects of the princes that we don't normally see in game but you can read about in lore. For example, having a quest with Sheogorath that highlights the random and horrifying cruelty of madness rather than the quirk chungus funny cheese man that he normally is portrayed as of late. A quest with Mehrunes Dagon that requires brutality and destruction but ultimately results in a change for good.

It would be cool to see a couple of the Princes that they haven't really focused on before, like Peryite or Meridia with bigger roles. It seems like each game gets a Prince-focused expansion with Hircine in Bloodmoon, Sheogorath in Shivering Isles, and Hermaeus Mora in Dragonborn (although honestly they should've just left him out and focused on the, you know, Dragonborn part of that plot).

I would say I'd like to see them swap the Prince's sexes again like a male Nocturnal or a female Vile, but then I don't want to know what the internet would do with a female Molag Bal :cryblood:

Bold of you to think that isn't stopping them from doing it themselves. Rule 63 exists for a reason. That aside more Meridia or Azura would be fun, whether that's slaying undead or kicking any of the other daedric princes in the teeth for a laugh.
