The Elder Scrolls

I'm a few days late, but big news to anyone interested in the Elder Scrolls series - Bethesda is giving away Elder Scrolls: Morrowind for free until the end of March as a part of a celebration of 25th anniversary! You have to go through a bit of a hassle by downloading Bethesda.net launcher, logging in and using the code TES25TH-MORROWIND on Bethesda's site. There is also bonus stuff for other Elder Scrolls installments, like Elder Scrolls: Legends; Elder Scrolls: Online and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. If you were waiting for Morrowind to go on a sale or are just curious, then you better hurry the hell up!
Not interested in Bethesda's garbage launcher. Not even a free copy of Morrowind is enough to get me to download that crap. I'll just go to IGG-Games for my copy.

OMG, I purchased morrowind on steam (OK it was only 9 bux) and then saw it was free. Goddamn it, and I've already bought that game before too.

Ah well. I agree, I like the ambient music better in morrowind than the newer ones, once they went console they got a bit more... michael bay. I like the alien world of morrowind, even if the fucking cliff racers can go fuck themselves. Even if I totally just shoved a spear through that asshole's face and somehow missed....

I've played a bit of Morrowind too. It's kind of clunky and rather unorthodox (I think by that point in time first person RPGs were including a more streamlined RPG role model, instead of diceroll-based that Morrowind has, I'm not old enough to remember for sure), but it's pretty fun to play and immerse oneself into the invironment.
3 of my earliest memories of the game included:
  1. Buying around 50 arrows, missing almost all of them while attempting to kill the first nix-hound I saw, because my sharpshooting skill was 15 or so;
  2. Getting stomped by some dwemer automaton that protects some ruins that Caius (or somebody else from Balmora) sends you to check, because I though he wouldn't reach me from the other side of Vvardenfell;
  3. Crouching while bitch-slapping mudcrabs on every single coast for a few days, because I was trying to get skill unarmed and sneak as fast as I knew how.

My favorite part of Morrowind was that tomb with the ship burial. I had to savescum to open the door that led there and the maze full of skeletons was hard to get through but it was worth it.

Skywind and Skyblivion both got trailers recently, seems these projects are shaping up pretty nice.
Nice trailers, but I really don't like what they've done to the Morrowind theme. I don't know if it's to avoid copywrites, but that chorus just distracts from the music itself.

Also, Daggerfall Unity came out. I'm having a fun time with it because you don't have to drag the mouse to attack.

Jeremy Soule's being accused of rape, so it's not likely he's coming back.
This is a huge stab at my heart, I really like Soule's work (Morrowind and Oblivion are by far my favourite OSTs) but I can say that this is a huge downer. I can't say for now what I believe, but there's a lot of indication and evidence points he was pretty predatory and thought 'womans are magic bitches' so I can't justify.

I'll let the peanut circus go around for now.

Did the lady ever go into specifics, or did she just say he raped her?

From what I understand Nathalie Lawhead and Soule were friends after meeting after a christmas party, he started hitting on her and she wasn't feeling it, but she states he was using his powerful position to kinda force her into a relationship. She has a bunch of emails of the company (involving Soule) and their exploitative ways. She started hanging out with him on the weekends and didn't consider it dating.

Eventually he started to indirectly threaten Lawhead's position at work, saying things like “It’s me or bust.” cause he was friends with the Boss. He got more and more uppity about him and the troubles he had with women in his life, how men are helpless and they need sex and how he needs sex so he can write his music (Thats right, SEXUAL MUSIC POWERS.)

Anyway, the two had sex, apparently Jeremy tried to force a relationship on her while she was in Vancouver.

How hard is it to not mix business with personal matters?
Like if you had a married couple work at the same company they used to split them up into different departments.

Damn, if that's true, what a loser. Even if you don't consider it rape (and we have no idea if it was) he still comes off looking pathetic. Hopefully she has some receipts regarding Soule, or he has counter receipts.

I'm going to need to now incinerate my 8 copies of Skyrim now, they're no longer pure and my soul is tainted because of them.

You betrayed me Todd by hiring a rapist.

Jeremy Soule was already confirmed to not return for TES 6 in January of this year. It was even reported on in this thread.
I don't see this as a bad thing as to be entirely honest his orchestral scores have gotten very samey overtime and I'd like to see new blood brought in.

Given a lot of the things I heard about the accuser, it's probably fake and also makes giving her(?) a thread worthwhile.
Apparently this is a thing they put up somewhere:

Why, cause she's a game developer? I think it's really much Soule is a creep fucker and Lawhead is an ex-employee trying to cause damage, I'm going to reserve judgement until the case draws its end, but for the meantime not everyone who claims they've been raped deserves to be shamed or attacked, I think Lawheads descriptor is that she was forced into a relationship, so the term is still loosely. Besides with the documentation and with Soules behaviour, I think he needs a thread instead of Lawhead.

Here's some Soule Trivia for your soule: He once declared digital piracy was similar to the holocaust, did a kickstarter supposed to fund a full Skyrim-inspired symphony; raised $120,000+ in 2013 but only delivered small snippets in the intervening years, eventually coming out as "Northerner Diaries." He also loudly cut ties with the creators of Guild Wars, Arenanet, because they didn't invite him to an office Christmas party.
