Time for the yearly celebration of everything wrong with the game industry.

Guaranteed disappointment and cringe.

Full list of nominees here, I don't feel like posting them all.

Holy shit what a terrible year.

The only decent game on there is RE 8 so thats probably going to win imo. Psychonauts 2 was shit, deathloop was wank, it takes two is indie award winner bait etc etc. What im getting at is that this year was shit for new releases. Looking forward to early next year tho we get stuff like Elden Ring & Dying Light 2 which should keep me in content for most of Q1 2022

The Persona thing might be a TV series because getting anime TV series for games is something that Funimation has been actively doing. Then again with Squid Game being popular it might be a live action deal.

*Valve announces some new BS for VR or their giant game gear, nothing about their own titles is announced.
As a VR Consoomer I would just be happy with more Half-Life Alyx content.

Doesn't even need to be new story stuff. I'd love simply a polished Arcade/Survival mode.

When will anime studios learn giving funimation any control over any of their IPs is a mistake?
Never, they own like over 90% of the distribution overseas now after the crunchyroll buyout. Netflix and Disney are scambling to secure anything that's remotely anime looking or trying to fund their own series so they're not left out in the cold.

All the current persona games have an anime series attached to them i believe if something persona is announced it's probably something gay like another arena battle game etc.

The most anybody will get is some updates to their VR services or maybe a hardware revision. Definite :optimistic: on the latter though, because Valve has this asinine idea that making people pay over a grand for a vr setup is somehow competitive yet haven't refreshed the hardware in a while.

I'm only upgrading from the HTC Vive when we can figure out how to do wireless VR-PC gaming. Being tethered is such an immersion breaker for VR.

Also higher FOV. Those are my biggest desires for the platform.

Im a sped that follows Tyler Mcvicker from VNN (despite him being a massive autist in his own right) from what i hear internal interest in VR there has hit an all time low & they don't see any further interest in pursuing it as a platform (hence why they are focusing on the steam deck). So it's :optimistic: to assume any VR thing to come from Valve within at least the next five years.

They have them im pretty sure the latest Oculus quest can do it without the need for a PC & can play the latest games.

Valve could have steamrolled Oculus if they went price competitive before the oculus quest line came out. But they didn't, Facebook is king of VR and now Valve has basically given up. What happened to this company?

I know but sequels for post game stuff is still possible. Unless they decide to go back and start pimping persona 1 and both persona 2's.

Who know's maybe they'll adapt strikers i thought it was pretty fun.

I change my mind, i think The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim should win because it is the bestest game ever & has just recieved a brand new, fun & refreshing re-release. Thanks for coming to my Vidya talk, my name is Rodd Poward - Independent Review man
