The video game community is one of the most exceptional groups to have ever existed on this great clod of dirt we call Earth. And part and parcel of such an exceptional community of people who can spend exponential amounts of time and effort to smash buttons and wiggle sticks is the people who have decided somewhere along their lives to become games journalists.

Now, this thread is not just for the scrub news alert jockeys who get paid to inform people of the latest patches, or game announcements. No intrepid readers, this is for those navel gazing "game journalist" luminaries who seem to get high off the smell of their own farts and release articles in which they make profound statements about video games, bend over backwards to extrapolate hidden metaphorical meanings in the most basic of game mechanics, and try to wedge in their own narratives into completely unrelated game franchises.

In this thread, post articles/video essays/opinion pieces you find which are hellbent to explain why that fun video game you like is secretly Nazi propaganda; how Minecraft is a metaphorical reconstruction of the teachings of some some obscure 18th century philosopher; how God of War made you a better Dad; anything of the sort.

tl;dr - Post articles by people trying to sound smart while talking about video games but come off like pretentious assholes.

People who know things about vidya sharing their autistic headcanons about the games don't bug me much. You don't have to read their crap.

I'm more bothered by fake "journalists" who literally don't understand video games at all, and obviously don't play them, literally conspiring to destroy the games people actually want to play, apparently out of sheer malice. The kind of fuckwads who colluded to attack games like Cuphead.

It's worse when a good game like Godhand gets shit reviews thanks to their inability to play difficult games. Before youtube gaming took off, people relied on their review scores before purchasing games, and if they got shitty reviews it could fuck you over as we seen with Clover studios.

and then they give praise to "games" like gone home or everyone's gone to the rapture. mainly because they dont have to worry about dying every 5 seconds and "muh storey"

Murder already is illegal in games. Haven't they noticed the "Wanted" meter in GTA and RDR?
