There’s nothing to be done. Recessions are like wildfires: they’re necessary for the health of the system. Don’t worry about “investing” right now. Get healthy, cut back on spending, and wait for the cleansing flames to burn themselves out.

But for real, what has served me well is getting my head out of my ass and investing in companies I know the feds are going to bail out, subsidize, or otherwise keep from dying. If the bottom falls out of the stock market, buy Raytheon, Goldman Sachs, BoA, Halliburton, Intel, and General Motors. Maybe throw some money Microsoft's way, too. Anyone who's got a Senator by the balls, really.

Is it possible to get proof of ownership for the Brooklyn bridge? I could make a pretty penny trying to hike the value. I’ll put in more toll booths in the meantime to recoup my property investment.

People say this but they'll probably just bring back debtor's prisons. When things get really bad, you start seeing humans turn other humans into profit, and prisons are nothing if not labor camps.
