Yeah, complete even one or two of them before worrying about more and see how you feel, because how it always fucking goes with people and home improvement stuff is that they go "I want to do x y and z! And this and that!" so you say "You realize that's going to be a ton of work, right? Like just the very first part of that is going to take a solid week, at least" and they go "Omg you're crazy, it shouldn't take that long! Maybe it'll take 3 days instead of a weekend!" and they start out with a huge amount of gusto which quickly peters off the second a hurdle arises and then you, as a man of stability and reason, are left planning and doing most of the work to finish the job they're completely sick of.
Oh, and if you don't pry it out of their hands immediately as work progresses they'll do anything possible to avoid actually compensating you later on even if they agreed to it originally. "I know you installed flooring throughout my entire house, a process that would normally cost many thousands of dollars, but like...that's just what friends/family do, right? So I shouldn't have to give you anything at all. Now excuse me while I go piss my money away on some random consumerist trash instead".
If people are doing it themselves, then they'll just get maybe 1/3 of the way through the job and it'll be "in progress" indefinitely, or they'll get frustrated and slap something together that's worse than it was originally just to get it done.
I don't trust people with home improvement anymore. They always manage to take something that should be pleasant and rewarding and turn it into a stressful, depressing, relationship destroying clusterfuck, because everyone these days is a squirrely faggot. I hate it. Rant over.
