The Linux Thread - The Autist's OS of Choice

kinda want to build one machine that does everything and just stick it in a cupboard and forget about it. Rather than having 6 second-hand machines that only do 3/4s of what I want.
I wonder myself if my cluster of old gaming PCs shoved into random 4u chassis' could be replaced much more efficiently with a single used 1u dell with 64 cores or something

I use BTRFS on all my drives exactly because it prevents file corruption. You can even dual boot Windian 11 and run WinBTRFS and access all your troonix files if need be. BTRFS has protected my files when I was getting crashes from testing an extreme undervolt setting.
Which ones, exactly? Nothing on Linux comes even close to the various chinkware on Windows in terms of features and intuitivity, let alone more serious commercial software. Besides, Linux simply needs its tools more often because a simple system crash can render the FS inaccessible, at least with the native ext FS. The lack of a self-repair ability has always plagued it. When Windows crashes, you just restart, and it will continue working.

It's not any different with Troonix. But it will more readily tell you that sOmEtHiNg iS wRoNg with your machine (that has served you well on Windows for years) every time it boots, and never shut up about it.

Name them.
Garuda Toolbox, I press "Garuda Update Recovery" and everything is fixed

I have said it before but Troonix fags will only win if they realize people want to use their computers so user friendly and intuitive solutions like Garuda Toolbox or the Cinnamon DE are how to get people to switch and stay

Goverlay has added LSFG functionality and all you have to do is use Octopi or Flathub to get it and it made a super easy to use lossless scaling Linux alternative and that is what made me stay

Easy to use distros even help technical users be productive so I don't see a point in using Gentoo when Linus Torvalds uses the basic version of Fedora

I use ext4 because it's never melted and lost all my files like butterfs tended to do.
Short of a hardware failure causing corruption I've never had a problem with ext4 on crashes.

I just use xfs as it doesn’t get bogged down when I’m copying videos to it while it’s reading other videos off the same disk

Shed your goyilicious proprietary bootloader and behold the power of 32 core ancient AMD server boards, no PSP, no IME, no BVLLSHIT. Jokes aside, the people at 15h do some really wacky stuff with these old boards, the best of which IIRC is this one, with up to 64 cores across 4 CPUs and 1 TB DDR3 RAM.

The problem is that a lot of houses in the US don't have the needed 300 Amp 3-phase service to run more than one of these. My little 4 GPU AI box already keeps the whole house warm.

This entire retarded slap fight is ruining my mood on Linux. Instead of talking shit out, these retards get into petty arguments and ultimately end up making the end user suffer more than needed. SonicDE has been broken on artix for almost a week now with no end in sight because they introduced a systemd package and some autist decided to drop supporting it even though they told him he would get paid. I haven't had any issues with xlibre/sonicde up until now but because a list of ten bug reports came through, most of which were solved in later version or aren't present in the vast majority of senarios, we have to get into another shitty slap fight.

At this point im back on plasma with wayland. If only windows 7 didn't get abandoned I would move back.
In a serious company like late 90s Microsoft, developers sperging out and inciting drama would be told to fuck off by their superiors; either make good software or eat shit.
In open source we have the opposite: spergs writing the software have their way and the users can eat shit.

Part of the reason I switched to hyprland, now im building everything else myself outside of the compositor and don't have to deal with that shit.

Well played, Linus. Well played.

I have no long-time experience with BTRFS, but my laptop had a random hard crash on Sunday, and everything was fine afterwards.

>AI was useless
>Found the bug by himself
>Still uses AI

These people are Capital "R" Retarded. One would think finding the bug on his own would have given him some form of self-fulfillment or pride., Maybe even learn a lesson that "hey, maybe DON'T rely on AI for fucking everything". But no, we still have to treat this shit like it's a "helper"

"Yea, it was completely fucking useless and kept telling me to give up and fucking kill myself, but..." - cuck faggot in tech.

On my vibe coding adventure yesterday I found it easier to learn how to write .qml scripts from having no knowledge than tell an AI "No saar, please do it in this way saar, saar that isnt a smart way to do it saar" over and over again.
