It arguably won't be long before the trash bin becomes the more secure option too
Politics aside the moment a project stops accepting patches for arbitrary reasons (i.e. "trust issues?" What kind of retarded horseshit is that?) it becomes a major security threat, since vulnerabilities in even venerated/highly-vetted software are found periodically that need addressing, and if you can't trust that a project will accept patches for flaws because they fling "trust" around as an excuse, you can't trust
them either.
Like, okay, neat, you don't "trust" whatever dude sends in a fix for a critical CVE in your cute little troon-themed variant of some core daemon. So if the fix is still correct, but you reject it because he misgendered you, what happens when some other supplicant submits the same fix with adequate troon cocksucking in the pull request? Will you still reject it because you think "it still came from that transphobe" or some gay shit? Does code hate your pronouns too?
Makes me think of that "well hey I might be a pedophile but at least I'm not
rude!" meme. They'd rather be politically correct than mechanically safe, and that produces insecure devices with unfixed vulnerabilities (often with working known exploits in the wild).
I continue to adore the fact that my web browser (Brave) puts red squiggles (i.e. spell check flag) underneath "misgendered" and "transphobe." Based as fuck, Brave, good fucking job. That's default behavior; I didn't delete them from the default dictionary.
