The Linux Thread - The Autist's OS of Choice

I swear gaming on Linux is such a mixed bag. On my Windows partition a lot now since a few games that I play regularly decided to update around the same time. Hopefully a new proton update will fix the issues Also, it also baffles me how shit the Linux version of Left 4 Dead 2 is compared to Windows. Mostly minor things, but performance is somehow worse. Minor issue issues include:
Radial menu is wonky
Unable to select sprays or move through folders in-game (this might be permission issues and less of the game itself)
Addons menu has a visual bug
Transparency for sprays in-game don't work

Was just getting comfy with Debian t
I usually just play one game at a time. Currently I'm playing Elden Ring, and that runs beautifully on Linux. I've already got all of the achievements, but the game is just perfection for my taste. Windows generally is better for gaming, but gaming on Linux is very good, depending on whether or not the games you like will run on Linux.

My man Chuck back at it again with more Bash videos.

Also, our man DT pinned this comment on his Fedora 36 i3 video

DT has a point in that opening a terminal in the live environment to run the installer is not intuitive and even a lot of experienced Linux users might not figure that out at first. There is no documentation on the i3 spin. It’s a bad user experience overall. But that’s also probably why the i3 spin is at the very bottom of the list on Fedora’s website, and no experienced Linux user should be recommending i3 on any distro to a Linux newbie.

How simple would it be to make a bash script to remove any unwanted applications and install your usual suite? I assume its not hard.

Depends if the applications are part of a metapackage, in which case you're in for a bad time. (Are there any metapackages that are themselves part of metapackages, and so on? I don't even want to know)

There are no women in tech like this. It's just not a thing. Any true and honest woman in this thread - raise your hand.

...If you see some "woman" in things like this, just automatically assume tranny. It's just a lot more likely.

lol ur gay now

The sample size may be low, but claiming all women in tech are trans women sub-textually implies that it makes you upset or that you're hunting for a tech literate girlfriend. There are plenty of women involved in tech, Jill from the Destination Linux podcast is the first that comes to mind. They're just often over shadowed/silenced by trans women, skew older, tend to be overweight due to lack of exercise/sitting most of the day, and in a relationship already.

I do ponder how successful a female linux youtuber/streamer would do without performing soy face, using a vtuber model, or admitting they're already in a long term relationship and not looking for a partner.

I know some women in tech, they work for the HR & marketing departments of tech firms.

makes you upset
nah, but in my view it's a mental illness and quite a massive one and it makes me wonder how trustworthy or stable that person is. If they're so fundamentally deluded about their sex, what else are they deluded about? And this is completely ignoring all the drama and problems these kinds of people usually cause. (even if maybe not always)

I'm happily married to somebody who barely knows what a computer is, thanks

HR & marketing departments of tech firms
bingo.

I worked with a female data analyst programmer. She did not put effort into her appearance and I'm pretty sure was autistic given her C++ rambling. She was somewhat energetic, though. Only one out of a couple hundred professionals I met. You'll never get your tomboy programmer gf.

The worst people.

Late FYI for Ryzen 1xxx fags. There is an issue with the gen 1 processors that can cause Linux to randomly freeze. You have to disable a power saving mode on your mobo or disable cstate 6 via a kernel option.

Also Duke Nukem Forever 2001 throws a direct input error on my install.

I mean, there are heaps of 'women in tech'. Female business analysts and project managers do some great work because men can't help sperging out over the details. If we had more visual programming languages, there might be more women programmers. Just not doing things that the boys love to dork out on.
