The Linux Thread - The Autist's OS of Choice

Wtf

So my entire internet went down and it took rebooting the modem and the routers twice to bring it back up. After that my server was inaccessible, and I realized that every single IP address on my network had moved from 192.168.0.x to 192.168.4.x. the gateway was now 192.168.4.1 and the DHCP address range was at 4 also. Wtf

I got everything worked n now except mdns/avahi is still not resolving for my server and I don't know why I can't connect to my server using its local address

Realized that the old router that's now a wifi access point still had its DHCP server on despite being in access point mode
Get a mikrotik router that won't change your subnets on a whim. The HEXs is a good starter router under $100 with an sfp+ port.

Lol damn I was going to give KDE 6 a shot, but that international Women*'s Day shit? Fuck that, I'm gonna start trying hyprland out of pure tranny spite.
Might as well give up on Linux then, fren.

It's been taken over for quite a while, unfortunately. 😔

The womens*†‡§** day thing is performative bullshit. There are a lot of far more practical reasons to avoid plasma 6, such as sessions defaulting to wayland, or the way it likes to occasionally crash and leave you with a black screen and a cursor. This is a bug that has been around for over a year.

Trying to find an open source project that's not full of trannies is like trying to find water that's not wet.
It's so painful. Underneath it all Linux is a solid system that is fun to figure out, and could be greater, but is ruined by all these fags who just want Windows/MacOS lite.

There is more than enough software that's not bothered that much by all that. That's the nice thing about Linux, don't like some userland software - just don't use it. That's why you should always fight big sofware projects that want to homogenize the "Linux experience", if you are active on kiwifarms I don't think I need to explain why that is bad and exactly how it would end.

this happened to me too at home. niggies at home connected the wifi ap and turned it on before turning the new main router on. took me some time to figure out wtf was going on

I disagree, just because some nigger/faggot/tranny could contribute to an open source project doesn't mean that it should stop you from using Linux, that's retarded.
As @AmpleApricots said, on Linux you can pretty much change userland programs without any major issues if you don't like it, don't think too much about the "Linux Desktop" and you will be fine, that's what I've learned.

Had the exact same issue. Remember to always assign a static IP

Surprising number of home networks are screwed up purely due to multiple sources of DHCP cohabitating

>have gayme
>on AMD setup, game runs better under linux
>on nvidia, game runs better under windows
>both computers are on par with each other
Possibly the reason is because AMD's Linux driver is Wayland compatible, while Nvidia's garbage driver effectively isn't. Wayland will run ever so slightly faster than X11, because it's a more optimised pipeline (X11 was designed back when UNIX systems generally consisted of multiple clients connecting to a central minicomputer, so the idea was the server could run on the weak microcomputer client, while the application displaying a window would run on the much more capable minicomputer). Wayland is more Windows-like in that it doesn't bother with the client-server model. Slightly better performance, but you lose utility features like being able to remotely run graphical applications with ssh -X.

You're talking bollocks, you've no idea if this is the bottleneck. You don't even know he's running Wayland rather than X. Any speed differences due to the architecture will be dwarfed by potential differences in the driver quality.

Most of the annoyances I have with Linux come not from annoying people, but companies trying and often successfully forcing their will on it. Their interests and mine very often do not align, but thankfully there are always options.

This tbqh, the only thing that really matters is that their code is good. You only see these people in open source because at a place like like MS they're locked away behind the proprietary wall and can't debate/show off their work nearly as easily.

I feel that, but on the other hand businesses and various start up retards trying to make gullible niggers pay for some shitty half baked distro fork (and said niggers actually forking over money) will never stop being funny to me. Wubuntu is a great recent example of that, the massive hole in their security that let all the paypigs details get stolen was perfect punishment.
