Just found out systemd uses claude to review pull request and make patches through this pull request. Looking into it, it has already fucked up.
Some pictures speak louder than words:

At some point, the only software that will be able to avoid this garbage is that which can be maintained anonymously and hosted on infrastructure that is immune or resistant to legal action.
This is why its so bad that android is killing any ability for the end user to install applications made by people that haven't doxed themselves to google.

It's just as bad if not worse than the whole age verification thing thats happening right now as far as I'm concerned. The move to do this came out right around the same time some of the first laws in America started popping up for age verification.

So even if on linux you can get around this, on android, which is far more widely used it will be impossible to avoid. People will have to move off of android to something more privacy respecting, and I see that as even less likely than people moving to linux.

Trying to piece this together and didn't see it discussed here yet.

Yes, Lunduke etc, but it looks like he's summarizing it correctly. This ogre has been running for the past 5 years and seems like she got lucky nobody else wanted to run this year.

Some of the info turning up about her is that she's married to another Indian Debian developer, who had pushed for her to become a developer while attacking other developers. This turned up several times in weird schizo blogs (archive), which includes this stunning picture of the duo.

If his explanation of the process is accurate, the only way to defeat her candidacy now is for Debian voters to vote "none of the above", instead of her as the single candidate choice. This all seems thoroughly jeetified, but I can't figure out how important it actually is to Debian.

>She's a card-carrying liberal feminist
Oh no
>She's also a Pajeet
OH NOOOOOOOOOOOO

I hate ""administrative"" roles in projects, as since they are nothing more than pure torture, no one that is working with code is willing to do them. Leading to them being open to basically anyone willing to do them and thus being prime target for subversion.
BDFL or bust

Yeah, phonecattle are going to have a hard time with this.
It was always going to be this way.
The vast majority of them don't know even know what a bootloader is, let alone why it is in their best interest for it to be unlockable.
Eventually though, I suspect that locked-down bootloaders will come to regular computers next.
Always a good idea to start hoarding E-waste that won't have this future garbage; it will be valuable later down the road.

ya like fuck me its not been a good time to install popOS for years at this point and i fully expect to have to wait years for it to be a good option again
theyre in fucking limbo and are just burning community goodwill by the hour

No one recommends PopOS anymore outside AI slop articles taking information from 6 years ago.

Can this nigger finally download an LTS like Ubuntu or Mint or something that works for once, FFS? No one goes “Wow, this dogshit distro sure did suck when I tried it, let’s try it again!”. Try something else, faggot. Learn from your employee from the previous series and NOT CHOOSE POPOS.

What's going on with Pop_OS!? I've been using it for 5 months now and been quite happy, but if it's on the way to becoming a shitshow it would be a good opportunity as any to leave it,, since I was planning to moving the /home directory to another drive and that's easier when you're starting from scratch with your OS.

Does it have to do with the switch to COSMIC? I'm still on version 22.04 so I haven't started using yet. What I really like about Pop_OS! is the PopShop for software installation; no headaches around finding the repo of X version of whatever exotic lib needed for some software, no need to uninstall and reinstall Chrome for updates; everything is kept really simple, you want to install something, you click on "Install", and then everything else is taken care of.

Yes, PopOS pushed their hardly out of Alpha desktop environment into a stable release of PopOS.

PopShop is just a hard fork of elementarys' appcenter before it became gtk4 iirc. Just about every software store will handle exactly like PopShop.

If you like PopOS just stick with it, just don't use 24.04, at least for another year or so until it gets to a point of some kind of stability.

its the corpos pushing this shit.
Even in corporations (at least to my admittedly limited professional experience), teams just kind of naturally self-segregate to have one or two people that play the BDFL role anyway. Even if you have niggerlicious middle managers, they just defer to the actual head honcho the moment you ask an actually apt question. "Administrative" roles are jew day care for soylems, anyone that isn't a sociopath or masochist avoids them like the plague. Maybe I've just gotten lucky, who knows.

Can I sperg about shit that's neither Windows nor Linux related? No? Then I'll sperg about it.

I have a thing for doing little ricing and customization of shit, and that includes fonts. Most importantly terminal emulator fonts so that it looks nice and shit. There are NerdFonts that add various extra glyphs to existing fonts and are usually offered with a selection of pre-modified ones that are popular with terminals. Source Code Pro is pretty good, but there's also other good picks like Hack. When looking up what other fonts people liked, someone on Plebbit mentioned JuliaMono which looks like the best option out of all, and it also comes with way more glyphs than NerdFonts if you're into that.

There are also the retro fonts. While NerdFonts offers the BigBlue Terminal font which replicates the old cmd.exe font, there's also an entire set of retro fonts from the same guy, including the IBM VGA fonts that are a perfect fit if you want to replicate the way your default Linux kernel/command line looks like. He also made the Flexi IBM VGA font which is meant to be a smoother version of the classic font, but I don't really like it even when it's at it's original size, and the classic one is too small at the size where it looks right. That, and if you use your terminal for editing more than ASCII/ANSI, like for Vim, then you'll probably want something that's fully Unicode capable.

One of my main gripes with ricing and to extend game dev is how little fonts support a decent Unicode range.
Chances are you probably have a status bar or are customizing the terminal or Gtk or etc. If you use any kind of CJK media you will need a font that supports all three languages, which is fuckhuge, then it also has to have a decent Latin/Romance support with also some European features such as accents, diaeresis or special characters such as ç or ñ. I also mention game dev because having one font with the widest support helps with localization as you it takes less work.

I dont think such font even exists, I haven't even seen one single libre licensed font sharing all of CJK as its usually only a mix of only one plus Latin if you're lucky, and Latin extended if you're extra lucky. One font that I usually use is mplus, which is a mono and sans serif font that at least has Japanese and Latin.

For all the shit Google gets, I'm glad they have the open font thing and the Google fonts site around for this kind of ballbusting searches, I do wonder if we will see an spike on free or more permissive licensed fonts given that FontWorks decided to mass rape all of its customers with a license change which iirc makes companies have to pay per amount of players / reach the product they are making the font with has.

By the time Pop_OS! 24.04 is stable Ubuntu 26.04 will be out

The informal BDFL still on paper does have less power than the administrative faggot. And due to that they(as seen in the case of NixOS) can hold immense influence over the project despite being more than useless if not actively malicious. Due to that, I am of the opinion that projects need to be run like dictatorships, with BDFLs having complete formal control over them. Allowing any "democratic decision-making," "community self organization" and other nonsense i nothing more than disaster in waiting.
