Have you made sure you’re using a compatible HDR DE+Compositor? While I do not particularly recommend it, perhaps Wayland with Hyprland, Wayland with Plasma 6(?) or GNOME 52(?) on Wayland? Those are the only ones I’m familiar with, I don’t know any non-Wayland alternatives. I’m sure you’re not utterly retarded and did check your monitor settings to have it enabled both on the system and the monitor itself if you do have it.
Do try it with a AAA game where you know for sure HDR works, like Overwatch or Hitman.

catfromplan9 on the farms was not on my bingo. He singlehandedly convinced me that matrix is a bad idea in general.
He had a personal site, plan9[.]rocks. It has been excluded from the wayback machine (go figure why), but some snapshots are available on archive.md: https://archive.md/plan9.rocks. IIRC he also hosted an open library that mostly contained nazi books, and other LARP material.
