I haven't seen a dedicated thread to this genre, so of course I'm going to be the first one to do it. According to Twitter, EA is planning on releasing UFC 6

Before EA obtained UFC gaming rights, they were well known for their Fight Night boxing series. Last one to this date was Fight Night Champion, a grittier, mature take on the sport of boxing through its campaign. That released in March of 2011.

Insider says that EA may revive the Fight Night franchise because of Undisputed's popularity.

I only played the first two UFC games and they were pretty fun, but I think the genre itself lends itself more to using some kind of arcade machine:ish DDR/Virtual On hybrid controller. That would be really fun now that I think about it.

I had fond memories of playing Fight Night Champion on the 360 as a (stalker) child.

it's going to be mentioned in the thread, but a group of autist have worked on modding UFC Undisputed 3 to include the current roster along with their movesets.

Also, Undisputed Boxing released on Steam a week ago. I've seen some gameplay of it, but cannot say I am impressed with it's preformance.

I remember when EA Sports MMA came out, UFC President Dana White was pissed (A) that EA wanted to get into the UFC gaming ring. White's word says that EA did not want to do mixed martial arts games then.

“We put our asses on the line, THQ and the UFC, to make a video-game deal in the worst economy in the world,” White said. “We go out there and do this thing, and it’s successful, and now [expletive] EA Sports wants to do a video game. Really? That’s not what you told us a year-and-a-half ago.
“You told us you’d never be in business with us. They wouldn’t even take a meeting because mixed martial arts disgusted them. This wasn’t a real sport. Boy, they got over that real quick, didn’t they?”

I remember Fight Night Round 3 on the PS3.

Those slow-mo punch replays and character models were impressive for 2007-08.

Seeing animations from FNR3 to FNR4 is night and day. Round 3's boxing animations looks robotic, like their body is on a swivel. Round 4 onward, everything looks smooth, fluid and believable.
