NO HEXBAWKS/WIIFAGS/PSTRIPLE GAYMERS ALLOWED
Due to my massive amounts of charisma I was able to spark a large interest in gaming on personal computers. Therefore, I decided to start an official PC gaming thread, which is actually the old thread. This is so console peasants don't accidentally click on one of our many links.

I just bought a new video card and am currently waiting for it so I can put it in my computer and play games on my 50 inch flat screen LCD TV (shit will be SO cash). And I'm just wondering if there is any elite PC gaymers on here so I can see how my rig stacks up against theirs.

My Precious:
Radeon HD 7950 (holy shitballs)
AMD ASRock 75 Pro motherboard (you bet your sweet fuckin' ass)
THX Soundcard (it's like lesbians having an orgy in my ears)
Dual 720p monitors (big brother is watching your sorry ass)
An iomega 750mb zip drive (no, seriously)
EZsee yellow key giant black characters keyboard (blinded by the light)
RCA home theater sound system (OH MY GOD MY FUCKING EARS ARE BLEEDING JESUS CHRIST)
A couple of blue LED lights so I can see what's going on in my system (I really have no Idea why I asked for these)
A light up Xbox360 controller (it's all green and shit)
A non light up PS3 controller (sure, why not)
A Blu-Ray burner drive (there's literally no point in me having this but HAHA FUCK YOU MACFAGS!)
12 gigs of RAM (forgot to add this)

Re: Anyone else in the PC master race?

I was and then the dog pissed on my rig. I no longer have thst dog.

Re: Anyone else in the PC master race?

Nvidia GTX 660
I have a single 1080p monitor. I used to have another 4:3 monitor I used while I was editing on the larger one but it died only a few days ago. I'm in the process of looking to replace it.
I'm one of the few PC gamers that doesn't care about keyboards. I'm still using the keyboard that shipped with my PC simply because it still functions. I'm extremely anal about mice though and have a Razer Naga.
Processor AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six-Core Processor, 3300 Mhz, 3 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s)
A blue snowball mic I use occasionally. I'm really self conscious about how I sound on mic though and I bought it as a way of trying to gain more confidence with it.
And about 8 gigs of ram.

I don't usually have problems with running vidja games on max. Then again most games I play on a regular basis are more than 10 years old so I don't usually take full advantage of it's specs. I mostly use it for editing.

I've actually been playing a lot of PC games like Swat 4 on my laptop mostly because of it's portability. I tend to only buy around 3 AAA releases per year and the last one I got was Saints Row 4.

Re: Anyone else in the PC master race?

I got an HP laptop back in 2010. I had some fun playing games like Fallout 2 and Oblivion on the thing but now I kinda considered getting a gaming computer instead of a laptop. Don't know if I should buy parts to build a custom pc or go to a store like Best Buy and buy one that ranges from $500-$750.

Re: Anyone else in the PC master race?

Got a typical laptop which I am currently using now. Kinda slow. Hope to get a better gaming laptop soon.

Building a PC yourself is generally cheaper but you have to do lots of research toward it, and you need to know relatively what you are doing.

Generally speaking what I normally do is I go to a store that builds PCs and I buy the parts there and pay them to assemble it for me so I don't fuck it up accidentally, they usually have a fairly low service fee and I usually get something for free in the process like a set of speakers. Brick and Mortar stores usually give you a good deal in that regard.

Getting a gaming laptop is a very viable option but you have to be aware they usually have some Achilles heel compared to a regular facebook machine. Like they're fucking huge and impossible to carry around, or they weigh a ton. Or they have a shitty fan and you have to always use a cooling pad. So you have to spend relatively high amount to get a really good gaming laptop that doesn't have problems.

Also, you can't upgrade them. You could possibly upgrade the RAM, but other than that, you just can't. Most laptops have certain chip-sets.

Re: Anyone else in the PC master race?

I'll post my specs. At least the ones I remember.

CPU: intel i5 4670k (3.40ghz)
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 770 (love this card)
Ram: corsair vengeance 8gb (don't need more)
motherboard: I have no idea, but something pretty recent by Asus. Needed to be for the processor.
drives: just a bluray/DVD player. Not a burner. My laptop has a DVD burner and I don't think I've used it more than once or twice, so it seemed pointless to shell out the extra cash.
monitor: a samsung 1080p syncmaster B2230
keyboard: a microsoft media keyboard that I'm borrowing because I don't feel like spending a lot of money on a keyboard when I can just borrow one my parents aren't currently using for now.
mouse: an old R.A.T. 3

Re: Anyone else in the PC master race?

Getting my 7950 in the mail soon. I'm wondering which three games I should get.

Games I absolutely love: Doom/Quake series, Elder Scrolls series, Duke Nukem series, GTA Clones, Half-Life series, Deus Ex like RPS's, Battlefield series

Games I already own that are on the list: Deus Ex Human Revolution, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, Sleeping Dogs

Games I don't own that are on the list:

Saint's Row IV, Tomb Raider, Hitman, Devil May Cry, Far Cry 3, Dirt 3, Dirt Showdown and Sniper Elite V2

As a regular gaming snob I thought Tomb Raider was like gears of war with jumping. It was extremely linear and full of qtes. (To the point where the only puzzles that existed in the game were in the optional tombs). All the levels were built as if they were a straight line. I'd recommend getting either SR4 or FC3. SR4 was way better than SR3 and if you liked Blood dragon. FC3 was the base game

Thanks Cuddlbug and Cranium. You both have convinced me into getting a pc rather than a laptop. Besides I thought of getting a gaming computer since they would be more durable than a laptop. If I wanted to play a game on a laptop, I'd just stick to something it can handle like a flash game or an indie game that isn't intense in graphics and such.

Re: Anyone else in the PC master race?

Win7
i5-3330 @ 3.00GHz
GTX 660
8GB RAM
225GB SSD

Bose surround sound
1920x1080 monitor

Nothing really extravagant on mine. Definitely not suited for overclocking. But it runs everything on high-ultra like a breeze and it doesn't overheat.

Re: Anyone else in the PC master race?

The main reason why I've been able to overclock my current card (6990) so high is because I have like ten fans in my computer. I'm paranoid about liquid cooling systems.

Although that weird gel stuff looks really cool.

No matter what people tell you, DON'T GET A MAC FOR GAMING!

Not only are they ridiculously underpowered compared to most low range gaming PC's, but they hardly have any games due to Apple's draconian publishing policy. It's not only cheaper to just build a gaming PC with the most powerful hardware possible (which you don't even need), but it's also better because PC's as a general rule have better hardware and more software, plus all of the peripherals you can shake a stick at.

Macs are only good for two things: office work, and for people who can't figure out how to use the editing software that's on PC's.

You don't have to tell me that regarding a MAC. My brother told me I should get one which I found stupid since those things to me look like expensive, hipster pc's. I remember trying one at the college I go to and while they are nice, I honestly find a pc to be better and more user friendly.

Re: Anyone else in the PC master race?

Generally speaking a big reason I bought a laptop was entirely because I play different games on my rig and my laptop. Like on my laptop I play very old 90's games like Soldier of Fortune and System Shock 2. Wheras on my rig I play significantly more modern games.

I also use my laptop to browse the Cwcki so you can blame Toshiba for my presence. :tomgirl:

Already got a class-action lawsuit in the works.

How do you wish to pursue in this class-action lawsuit?

AMD ASRock 75 Pro motherboard (you bet your sweet fuckin' ass)
THX Soundcard (it's like lesbians having an orgy in my ears)
Dual 720p monitors (big brother is watching your sorry ass)
An iomega 750mb zip drive (no, seriously)

A non light up PS3 controller (sure, why not)
A Blu-Ray burner drive (there's literally no point in me having this but HAHA FUCK YOU MACFAGS!)
12 gigs of RAM (forgot to add this)

The weak point of mine is probably the video card, an EVGA nVidia 650 Ti Boost, but it runs ok - I pull 200 fps on Minecraft at 5976 x 1080 - running it a wee bit overclocked.
ASRock 77 (I think - 67? Something like that.) (ASRock makes good mobos, don't they? I wasn't expecting anything nearly as nice) - with an i7 Ivy Bridge of some flavor. (I'm too lazy to dig up the particulars.)
8 each USB3 and USB2, plus the usual firewire, etc.
256G SSD
Two 1 TB HDDs, set up as 1 TB of RAID 1
1 TB external SATA drive
The THX thing, and speakers to match. Also a decent headset (Logi G930 -- the surround sound actually works!)
Besides the surround speakers, there's also a pair of Genelec 1030A nearfield monitors. (Recording studio gear -- I got stiffed on some work I did a few years ago. They belonged to the stiff-ers so I kept 'em.)
Triple 1080p monitors. (I can keep the IDE open on one, help / docs on the other, and debug the app on the third. Setting up remote debug since the XP days had been an exponentially increasing PITA, so being able to do it on one machine is much more Zen-like. Plus it can actually be made to work. That, and most games run happily in mondo-widescreen these days.)
All-black Das Keyboard with nothing on the keytops. TAKE THAT, TOURISTS
Blu-ray burner (one of those four-hour Newegg specials - for TWENTY BUCKS. I don't need one either, but: TWENTY BUCKS.)
DVD burner (I keep it around for the lightscribe -- which I don't use anymore since one of the printers does printable disks. I'd lose it except the place is infested with blank lightscribe DVDs.)
16 gigs RAM
wireless Xbox controller (there's a couple other controllers bouncing around too, but that's my main one) (oh yeh, a MS Sidewinder force-feedback joystick too.)
WACOM intuos 4 tablet
The Main Moose is a logi MX Pro wireless doodad, which is cool 'cause a glass desktop is the best mouse pad EVAR, it's comfortable, and it's got, like, 90 buttons. (Or maybe 9, I'd have to count.)
CBecause of What We Do, there's other weird stuff plugged in, like a Logitech G19 keyboard (with the little color screen) and an Air Mouse. Come to think of it, there's also a wireless keyboard around here someplace for when I feel REALLY lazy. (That makes a total of 3 keyboards -- one for each hand, plus one to bash my head against.)
A couple o' printers (one is a large-format 6-color) and a scanner
Assorted webcams, one of which is actually a webcam (another is a microscope, but the system doesn't care)
a bunch of ancillary crap - MIDI ins n' outs, bluetooth, a USB line strung out the window for my telescope (it shows up as another webcam), etc.
And of course, the requisite blue lights. I had a bunch of blue LEDs laying around for years and finally got to use them. Gotta have blue lights.

I had a lot of it already so my main expenses were the SSD, monitors, video card, mobo, processor, and RAM. It ran me just over $1100.

Re: Anyone else in the PC master race?

My rig is a HP Slimline I bought from wal-mart for $200 a couple years back. I wanted something that could play DNF and Fallout New Vegas, so I tore the guts out of it and got a AMD Radeon HD 7700, a Samsung SSD, and this case.

Re: Anyone else in the PC master race?

This is my case without the touchpad buttons. I was going to get them but the power requirements were fucking insane:
xclio_touch320_3.jpg

I recently got a bunch of PC games at a thrift store. Anyone who's been playing PC since the early 2000's knows that used PC games are such a rarity today, especially used good ones.
They all cost $2.65 at the catholic store I went to. The Deseret Industries stopped selling M-Rated games because they're pussies so I stopped going there.
I got:
Crysis and Crysis Warhead (complete box)
Marine Sharpshooter Trilogy (complete box)
Spore (complete box)
Far Cry 2 (missing the box and the manual, just a little envelope with an international game disc)
Hellgate London (complete box)

I've been looking for Hellgate London for years. All of my friends said it was awesome and they weren't kidding, it sucks that the sequels don't have any singleplayer.
