I've watched a bunch of movies recently that don't really fit the /horror/ megathread, that aren't necessarily exploitation either, but don't necessarily deserve a thread of their own, so let's all discuss that shit here. Theme of the thread is any movie that deals with Crime, Revenge, Violence, etc.... From Death Wish to Dirty Harry to Dragged Across Concrete to I'm sure many movies that don't start with a D but filled with Ds.

Just watched Wrath of Man by Guy Ritchie and honestly it's one of his best movies since the early 2000s. Maybe not as much a classic as either Snatch or Lock Stock (what is), but it's definitely a great movie (and kind of a genre switch for him. It's filled with Guy Ritchie shit, flashbacks, cool dialogue, trademark camera shit, relies very heavily on Roshomon style storytelling. Honestly, I don't want to say anymore than it's Guy Ritchie teaming up with Jason Statham making his best movie in about 20 years. (Not that The Gentleman was bad, far from it, it was really good too). 4.5/5 a must watch

As a side note, my favorite new director S. Craig Zahler is apparently working on two things that are really exciting to me, a Western tv series (anyone who has seen Bone Tomahawk knows how good he is at it. Some might say that audiences were kinda split right down the middle, but anyone with sense loved it. He's also making Fury of the Strongman which is described as "another gritty crime movie in the vein of Brawl In Cell Block 99 and Dragged Across Concrete, albeit much more mean-spirited and nasty." There's apparently a horror movie he's working on as well, but I haven't seen any details about it.

Anyway, go ahead, let's talk about those kinds of movies and shit. Anyone who is into those types of movies and hasn't seen I Saw The Devil needs to correct this immediately, too.

I enjoyed Death Sentence (2007) with Kevin Bacon.

Starts out as a fathers revenge and devolves into a war between the father and the small gang. Which has horrible repercussions for both.
Funnily enough I’m pretty sure this film is directed by James Wan. Which shocked me a-bit. Only ever knew him as the horror movie guy.

Oh shit, for real? You got my interest with that one now

Anyone watched Riders of Justice with Mads the madlad Mikkelson? Danish movie, heard great things about it, apparently it's described as 'Taken but with Mads and people talking a retarded language'. It's definitely on my list.

Term Life (2016) starring Vince Vaughn wearing a shitty haircut, John Favreau, Mike from Breaking Bad, that dude from Empire who believes that 1+1=5 or some shit, and a bunch of other people.

Surprised I never heard of that flick, considering the names attached. It's... good. Vince Vaughn has the most autistic haircut of the century, and also autistically plans heist for other people to commit while he just gets a commission for planning it. Something goes wrong, and now a bunch of people want him dead. Who, for what, why, what's gonna happen, etc... Pretty traditional crime caper with good twists, but the main selling point is the acting and relationship between Vaughn and his daughter. Definitely worth a watch. 4/5

Run, Hide, Fight was basically described as Die Hard in a high school....and yeah that's pretty much it. Gore is solid, more kills than you would except, despite the setting it's definitely not meant for the high school crowd, solid performances all around, I'd say it hovers between a 4.5-5/5

Definitely a must watch.

Last House on the Left.

The original. The revenge part is in the last 1/3. Christ.

Rumor was, they couldn't get it below an X so ol' Wes Craven went and cut the end off of another movie and attached it then submitted it to the theaters.

The unrated one is... well...

Holy shit.

I'll admit I haven't watched LHoTL for... maybe 10-15 years now. Was it really that bad?

I should rewatch them + the remake actually.
