I've watched a bunch of movies recently that don't really fit the /horror/ megathread, that aren't necessarily exploitation either, but don't necessarily deserve a thread of their own, so let's all discuss that shit here. Theme of the thread is any movie that deals with Crime, Revenge, Violence, etc.... From Death Wish to Dirty Harry to Dragged Across Concrete to I'm sure many movies that don't start with a D but filled with Ds.
Just watched Wrath of Man by Guy Ritchie and honestly it's one of his best movies since the early 2000s. Maybe not as much a classic as either Snatch or Lock Stock (what is), but it's definitely a great movie (and kind of a genre switch for him. It's filled with Guy Ritchie shit, flashbacks, cool dialogue, trademark camera shit, relies very heavily on Roshomon style storytelling. Honestly, I don't want to say anymore than it's Guy Ritchie teaming up with Jason Statham making his best movie in about 20 years. (Not that The Gentleman was bad, far from it, it was really good too). 4.5/5 a must watch
As a side note, my favorite new director S. Craig Zahler is apparently working on two things that are really exciting to me, a Western tv series (anyone who has seen Bone Tomahawk knows how good he is at it. Some might say that audiences were kinda split right down the middle, but anyone with sense loved it. He's also making Fury of the Strongman which is described as "another gritty crime movie in the vein of Brawl In Cell Block 99 and Dragged Across Concrete, albeit much more mean-spirited and nasty." There's apparently a horror movie he's working on as well, but I haven't seen any details about it.
Anyway, go ahead, let's talk about those kinds of movies and shit. Anyone who is into those types of movies and hasn't seen I Saw The Devil needs to correct this immediately, too.
