To be fair, this mission was conceived almost 10 years ago during Trump 1
Goes back further, the Artemis program is Trump but the rocket you see is actually 15 years of development hell and is the scraps of the failed Constellation program. Designed to replace the Space Shuttle and is part of the reason the US lost access to space for a chunk until the Falcon.

The whole thing from a research perspective is almost completely pointless and even as far as going back to the Moon SLS can only get into a very eccentric orbit and still have enough energy to return to Earth.

Starship is a massive mess so any sort of landing will be waiting on a whole new system to be developed that can go to the Moon descend and return to the same eccentric orbit as SLS which does complicate things a little bit more.

Don't get me started on SpaceX & Elon. Generally a company that takes other peoples money and work and claims it was just Elon's money & genius.

*I do know Orion is the upper stage of SLS, it's easier to talk about SLS just as whole like it is easier to talk about Falcon rather than Falcon taking Dragon into orbit.

Right on.

Because there's no way to program an input object to use confirmation dialogues or anything...
Put on two pairs of heavy leather work gloves, then send a text - one with zero errors in writing it.
Now you see why physical switches are preferred?
Touch screens are all fine and dandy - until you are forced to use them in a space suit.

ok I'm glad their back into the space shit. I want to see some vids of the moon getting closer and closer. Kind of like how that New Horizons kept showing Pluto, as we were getting closer and closer to it and it was getting bigger and bigger. There showing the Earth behind them right now, i guess if I'm on the right stream.

I'd like to see a satellite go and orbit around Uranus and Neptune, like they did Jupiter and Saturn. And try to see how far they can delve into them to see whats inside them like they did with; I think, Jupiter.

BTW, why the fucking nigger and woman? If this fails, something with them happened. Just a waste of space there I say. Just take 2 men. LIke, really, what can they benefit any of it? Think all this through but, oh muh dei.

New Horizons was awesome tho really. Loved seeing that grey few pixels turn into this giant descriptive entire planet with its atmosphere and frozen fucking nitrogen mountains or some shit. and that large black spot that from a large distance, almost looked like Pluto was an oval egg shaped planet (its a planet).

Btw a better definition for a planet, since the one they use now states that planets were made from shit orbitting at one location gathering as it smashed into each other and formed "the" planet, is all fucked up because in the first place thats a stupid idea. Planets- are OLD stars. That burned out and cooled down. JUst fucking common sense. What do they think happens to those? No all the gas gets together and forms a sun. Maybe some gas makes the other gas giant planets that was orbitting out there. But, planets are old stars that got caught by our star when it was big enough to start gathering things within its orbit. The Earth and Moon for example, was part of a dual star system, at one point. No we didnt hit each other. Just wheres the proof for that? See, retarded. So, therefore, Pluto; being obviuosly some old star, is a Planet. (their full definition btw is; cleared out its orbit of other shit in the way. ik retarded right)

Hilariously the manga Space Brothers features a black man sent to the Moon along with the first Japanese man (the MC). The manga was first conceived before Obama gutted the program, so there was a lot of optimism about space travel and a lunar base in the 2020s.

Holy shit I need to return to that show bad. I had to take a break because that one sequence was too intense.

i can sorta get the nigger and the woman but the canadian is where i draw the fucking line

So their much vaunted "Live 24/7" coverage is just a kerbal space program animation and/or blue screen?
Where are the cameras just following the earth or moon or something. Don't have to watch the astros sleep (would be quite interesting and funny though to see how it works), but something a bit more real would be nice.
Unless I am missing something and someone can point me to a better place to watch.

It's always a sight to behold to see a launch, but there's something exciting about heading back towards the moon. It's really wild to think that almost 100 years ago to this date, Dr. Robert Goddard launched the first liquid-propelled rocket. Now, we're testing to see if we can haul shit into space. We've come a long way in a century.

Its not reality TV. They arent going to let us watch the Astronauts like its an episode of Fish Tank. I imagine they will do live shots when its time to do the lunar interception burn later today.

Maybe one day there will be a space station rigged with 24/7 live cameras and TTS speakers. We better hope it’s not run by Jet Neptune though or else it’ll be Apollo 13 meets the Challenger disaster.

Hence why I said I dont need to see the astronauts. But an outside view would be nice of where it is passing currently or going to eventually.
And no I don't mean real time either, a 10-20+ minute delay is fine.
But whatever, I guess it is too much to ask for such a historic mission.

Edit: Also does anyone have video of when the mascot called "Rise" actually started floating, that was its whole purpose? Nasa has the PR/Media skills of a sentinelese tribesman.

Starship going into its 12th test flight with a vague road ahead to technological readiness and SLS sending crew to the Moon on its second test flight is mind boggling
I don’t think this is a fair comparison. SLS hardware has been operated for decades. It’s all Shuttle tech; even the RB-25s are flight proven hardware. (I will always be mad that the engines for Discovery at the Air and Space annex are fake.) The SRBs were first designed for ICBMs and expanded and lengthened to meet the Shuttle requirements.

Should also be noted Starship is also supposed to be reusable. The SLS is not.
