"The solution to liberalism is communism. The solution to communism is fascism. The solution to fascism is liberalism." - Don't Tread on Me
It's no secret at this point that there has been a growing ideological rift in the West for some time now. And when I say the West, I do include Leafs, South Leafs, and Tea-Drinking Leafs in that. And now that we are approaching the one year anniversary of the second World War (America still undefeated 2 time World War Champs btw) I think about history, and how to learn from it so as not to repeat it. Because "repeating it" seems to be what we are doing right now.
We have people pushing for hate speech regulation to try and contain ideas that they find offensive. We have Jews crying loudly about anti-Semitism as best they can and pouring money into trying to eliminate anti-Semitism completely, not realizing this just makes everyone else hate them more. And we have communists and fascists literally coming out and beating each other in the streets, while communists try and tear down statues of our history.
When even Winston Churchill, the man who literally defeated fascism in Britain, is considered to be a symbol of white supremacy because he was racist during a time when racism was not unacceptable, I have to put my foot down. I have to sternly say "why are you trying to MAKE more fascists?"
And I have come to a conclusion. In the same way that a man is never happy when he is at peace, and will actively seek out war, people are never happy when they are stable, and so they will seek to destabilize.
Communists are allowed to exist under liberalism because liberalism tolerates all. The Vietnam War was a big turning point for the states, as it meant that all the conservatives went off to die, while the draft-dodgers were not actually punished and instead went on to get education and become professors. These people weren't just left-leaning, they were activists, and they had reason to defy the government. So an entire generation of these people became professors, while an entire generation of conservatives had to spend several years catching up and were too old to really start teaching at a university when they got back.
So the next generation was educated by a group of mostly young, left-leaning activists who had proof that protesting worked to get them what they wanted. And that bred and bred with itself, as more and more people pushed for college education for their kids and more and more teachers came out of the education programs and went to teach at primary school.
The leftward shift of journalism and the academy was unavoidable, but now the consequences are coming out. We have actual roving gangs of communists challenging the police, calling for the abolition of the US government and trying to ruin everyone else's lives. They have no respect for property or for individual responsibility, and they join together as a blob to commit crimes without being caught because they can.
The response? Same as it was in Germany. Civilians are coming out in droves to do the job the police won't, fight against these people and protect private property and statues. Did you guys see the video of the woman with a wheelchair blocking the exit to Target so no one could steal from it? They just sprayed her in the face with a fire extinguisher. An old disabled woman trying to STOP THEM FROM STEALING, and they assault her. Absolutely disgusting. So more people are coming out now. They have had it. But the protests aren't stopping. And the reforms are coming. There will be fewer police in all of these major cities. And the police were wholly ineffective at dealing with the protests this time around.
So there will be a cry out for an extreme rightwing candidate to come in and crush these gangs. And thus, fascism will be on the rise. And when fascism closes its iron grip over a nation, that breeds the seeds of rebellion under those who demand freedom, liberty and peace. And that's how liberalism establishes itself. And when that happens, liberalism becomes even more tolerant of communism, claiming that the problem with fascism was that it was hateful and discriminatory, and ignoring the wrongs of those who were discriminated against in the first place.
Will this cycle ever break? I fear not. Not until liberals start openly criticizing and dismissing communism.
